Introducing Myself

Hi - I had RNY September, 2008, at a weight of 341 pounds. My all-time high was around 368 pounds.  I am now hovering around 175 pounds and feel great.  Not sure how much more I want to lose but will not be heartbroken if it remains 175.  I keep up with my calories (around 950 per day) but do not seem to lose any more.  Does this mean I have leveled off?  Am I eating too little and my body is holding on to each calorie?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Janice

Sometimes, I do something that I call protein-loading.  For a few days, I double the amount of protein I am supposed to be taking in.  Somehow, it kick starts the weight loss again.

Weight loss surgery has saved my life and I would recommend it to anyone who has the strength to dedicate themselves to the challenging WLS lifestyle.  This is not the "easy way out."  It's the hardest way out.  "Easy" would have been to do nothing.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I know I do not eat as many proteins as I probably should and I am trying to change that.  I feel like it is time to experiment a little to see what may work for me since I am not really unhappy with what I have accomplished so far.  Will try that.

That likely isn't nearly enough food.  Try getting at least 1,200 calories per day with at least 100 grams of protein.  Spread it out over 6 meals.  Do you exercise?

Hi - Thanks for the input.  I am going to aim for the 1200 calories and increased protein and see what happens.  I do exercise when it is warmer.  I go to the pool for water aerobics but find that I get very cold when I get out of the water in the winter.  So I usually stop in late November and then go back towards the first of March.  I plan to do that this year, too.  Janice
