Does anyone know of an herb that will curb appetite?

I am 1 year out and have 7 lbs to go and recently weighted and gained 2 lbs!  I have recently found out I am hypersensitive to caffeine which has been my salvation all this time.  Coffee seemed to give me the edge I was looking for until it was time for me to eat.  Is there something out there that will give me the edge I am looking for that won't be harmful to me, and doesn't have the same affects as caffeine?  Looking to see what you guys do.

Not sure... There are a lot of products that some people use. Fiber pills - with liquids.
The other is tea - green tea.  And it is very good for most people.  Even the decaffeinated,
Other good herbal teas - that may help with energy - and increase metabolism may be ginger tea, and other teas that have ginger.

You can also try to go to a good store that sells herbal remedies (small are best) and talk to a licensed herbalist and ask them what they recommend..  Ephedra (Ma Huang) used to be very popular but is a highly stimulation herb, and some people can't take that.  I am not sure if it is back on a market.
A lot of herbal remedies may - will have a lot of caffeine. So you have to watch for that.

Another route is to determine why you have high appetite.  Too many carbs, or simple carbs makes me very hungry, while proteins+ no starchy veggies do not do that.  i.e. if I have carbs early in a day - I will be hungry all day.  So I usually reserve the carbs for evening - afternoon.

You can also look into homeopatic remedies.

Are you supplementing your protein?  I find that protein drinks really help to control/curb appetite. I would suggest you really evaluate your diet.  Remember simple carbs are the ones that will leave you hungry quickest... more protein will keep you satisfied.  I have gone through spells of eating ice...of course I do suffer with anemia...but I have found that ice also helps me get through times where I constantly want to eat something.

thank you.  When you say simple carbs, tell me more about this.  Can you also recommend a good protein drink?

Simple Carbs:  refined flours etc...white bread, potatos, white rice, white pasta... Along with any sweets or candies...These are the things you should eat the minimal of at meals.  When digested they convert to sugar, your body burns the sugar energy quickly and first... (rise in blood sugar/ burst of energy)  Since most of them are "pre-processed" it requires less processing from your body so your body burns through them quicker...causing a feeling of being full and then the craving to eat again...  Make your meals of mainly lean protein and vegetables... use more whole grain, brown rice, etc.

I myself have been happy with GNC's WHEY ISOLATE 28...I like the chocolate, I blend it with 8oz skim milk and a little ice.  YUMMY!.  I usually drink one in the mornings...sometimes with fruit for breakfast, but usually it is my breakfast. With milk  It provides about 250 calories, 35g protein and only 4 carbs.  I drink one around 830 and it can hold me until well after noon.  It is not a "bulking" shake so it doesn't hype you up of have a lot of excess calories.  The only thing I've found is that you have to drink in in the first 5 minutes or so because it will get "thick" if it sits.  Which doesn't affect the taste just the feel of it and in my opinion I dont like it thick.  I have tried some of the bariatric drinks and this one is fine for me, plus since there is a GNC nearby I can pick it up when I need to... Not to mention protein drinks can become very expensive, especially the bariatric ones.  This one averages to about $30 a month...$1 a day (for breakfast?)  I do have the gold card  with GNC ($15 a year, gives discounts during first week of month, plus other special sales etc.)  I have another new drink to try, but haven't gotten to it yet...it is supposed to have more protein and amino acids...one of these days...
Right after my surgery I used the NEW WHEY 42 shot things... They look like large test tubes... They kinda tasted like liquid jellos?  I would drink half of one in the am and half after lunch.

Keeping your protein intake up is one of the major keys to losing weight and keeping your appetite under control... Protein is the last thing that your body processes in a meal so logically the more of it you eat...the more that sticks around and the longer it takes until your body wants food again...
