I'll be 2 years out of my RNY on 4/13. How will I know if and when I'm done losing??

Rny is a tool to lose weight.  It gets to the point where we have to be more vigilant in what we eat think, and excerse.  But it's up to us when we stop losing.  With that being said,  we will still have our period when we stall.

It's really hard to say if you need to lose any more weight or not..And here is why I say that:

I have a friend who had surgery about the same time I did (4.5 years ago) and she got down to about 140 while she exercised like crazy..running, aerobics..all that stuff. And then she started weight training. We wear the same size..small tops, size 6 jeans..but I weigh 125 and she weighs 165..how does that happen? muscle. Muscle really does weigh more than fat.

That being said, I have a problem with the number on the scale. I know I need to work out. I know I need to do some weight training and some aerobics..and I also know that when I do, that number on the scale will go up and I'll start getting nervous..sadly, I'm a slave to that number on the scale. Sure, I can explain away a pound or two increase over night (salt intake) or a drop of a pound or two (constipation or water loss)..but if it increases and keeps increasing..I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle it..

Only you and your surgeon can tell when you're done losing. And if you do gain 10 or 15 pounds..only you can tell if your clothes are too tight and if you really do need to lose the weight. I've heard people keep trying to lose when they weigh so little..they're getting close to being anorexic..and that's just as bad or worse than being obese..

What I do know is that your tool can still work, if you work it and have the weight to lose..If you dont' have the weight to lose, you'll just be fighting a battle that you can't win and if you do, you actually just lose anyway..That's the problem with internet support..I can't look at you and tell if you still need to lose weight..and you can't tell if the avitar picture of me is actually me or a fake..or a picture of my fat cat or beagle or parakeet..you know what I mean..I might be some big fat russian guy who is stalking vulnerable wls patients..I'm not but you get the idea.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

You are done with losing the weight that comes from the RNY.  Any weight that you lose now is going to be from diet and exercise.  And it is harder than ever, once you are two years past RNY.
