I've been having hot flashes and wondered if it was reactive hypoglycemia from carbs so I'll make notes of when I have the hot flashes today and probably for a couple of days. Mostly it's in the middle of the night and I keep ice water next to the bed to drink..it seems to cool me off when it happens. Of course that means I wake up and have a drink of water every time (several times a night) and that means I'm not really getting GOOD sleep at night..boo..it's probably not from carbs but I hate to think there's nothing I can do about it but not sleep and drin**** water. blah.

6:00 am 1/4 serving protein waffles, 1/2 microwaved apple, 1/3 serving sf pancake syrup

6:30 am 12 oz coffee w/NSA Swiss Miss

6:45 am double espresso, 1/2 cup plain soy milk frothed, 2 packets of splenda

7:00 am 24 oz herb tea, black licorice with 2 packets splenda

8:40 am 1 oz cheddar cheese, 1 pc turkey breast deli meat

(9 am, hot flashes from hell...sweating...WISH I could drink some ice water..sigh!)

9:10 am 24 oz drink mix with ice, Crystal Light Berry Splash (hydrating)-truth be told, I was sipping this at 9 am..just too sweaty

10:45 am chicken salad: 1 cup lettuce and spinach, 1/4 cucumber, 1 slice tomato, 1 oz zesty italian dressing, 4 oz chicken thigh meat

11:15 am 24 oz Drink Mix with ice, Lipton Mandarin and Mango(another hot flash! ice water in order!)

1:00 pm 24 oz Drink Mix with ice, Power Edge Strawberry Tangerine Caffeinated

1:50 pm 1 hard boiled egg

2:20 pm 1 medium orange

2:40 pm hot flashes again...whew..Maybe the orange?

3:15 pm 24 oz Drink Mix with ice, SoBe Living Way Banana Strawberry

6:00 pm 3.5 oz tilapia cooked wet, 3 oz sweet potato, 1/2 cup green beans canned

Totals for the day:

 Calories: 1188
Fat: 51.7
Carbs: 88.1
Protein: 102.5

Sheesh..I was too busy today...and I didn't have enough dinner. That tilapia has no calories at all, basically..and more protein too..I can't figure out what I'll have before bedtime..but something.

I call this a good day, tomorrow is friday and I have plenty of room to be bad. For dinner tomorrow? TURKEY CHILI..I can hardly wait. Black beans and left over turkey..yum.

How did you do?
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I have had a few hot flashes and flash is the right word for it! It has caught me off guard a few times, weird feeling isn't it? I have only had a few at night. Hypoglycemia reaction? I will have to think about what I have eaten recently the next time I have one!
0900-oatmeal w splenda and a boiled egg
1030-2 pieces sf candy
1200-stirfried meat and veggies yumm! Mongolian grill special at work; I asked them to leave out the noodles

all my water and such. No exercise tonight which was planned, I am a little sore from increasing my miles this week so taking a day off but plan on boot camp in the morning. DH went without me this morning when I fell back to sleep.
Turkey chili sounds good but we have too many leftovers in the fridge to make anything new; maybe this weekend!

Night time hot flashes are generally hormonal.  They can be a sign of menopause, even if it's early menopause.  I had a complete hysterectomy at 39 years old and the overnight menopause was brutal.

Weight loss surgery has saved my life and I would recommend it to anyone who has the strength to dedicate themselves to the challenging WLS lifestyle.  This is not the "easy way out."  It's the hardest way out.  "Easy" would have been to do nothing.

This is the last remnants of menopause for me..Actually, I stopped taking bc pills in October so it's just alittle more time and I'll be done with all of this..the FSH blood work came back post menopausal so...after 40 years they essentially cut me loose...WOO HOO...I forgot what it was like to have no fear of getting pregnant! LOL.
