Discouraged

Well my frolic beyond 1,000 calories up to over 1,500 resulted in a 2 pound gain.  Hello??? What the hell was I doing?
I think I need to be putting something in my mouth all the time.  Geeeze anyhow!  So...back up and take a look at what I need to do here.  I want to get this last 20 off even though they seem to be welded on!
1. get the protein count up.  FOCUS on this first. Include more fruit.
2. plan the meals for the day or at least record before intake.
3. find a way to move it! Hate the dread-mill, too cold outside(-15 today).  I'll check senior center today to see if they still have an exercise class.
4. Hang the size 12 jeans out where I can see them.
5. count my water, maybe I'm not getting as much as I think I am.
6. Cook and limit the popcorn to 1/2 of what I've been eating.  This is truly my last vise(for right now anyway ;-)).  It's air popped and I use spray fake butter.  I'm not eating candy, haven't had any since first of the year.  Miracle.  I don't eat bread, pasta or rice at all and haven't since surgery.
I think I'm feeling a little 'poor me' today. But I'm hanging in there.

The up and down of the scale can be very frustrating.  It is actually normal, even if it drives me to distraction!  But it sounds like you have a plan--protein, exercise, water, etc.  It isn't easy, but good luck.

Shake up your routine with exercise! Hope you found a class you will enjoy and want to attend. I was in a rut with running and zumba so I have dropped zumba for now and have been going to spinning classes, step and tone, boot camp.
I do not weigh myself but my pants feel a bit looser today.
I have never made it to goal so do not usually give too much advice but I have found the few times i have changed my routine I notice a difference in my clothes. I only know my weight when I go to the doctor a few times a year. The numbers mess with my mind. I am not after a number on the scale or on my pants but a feeling of health and that I can do whatever it is I want to do.

Mary, thanks for that...your response really helped me. I'm out 2.5 yrs., and today on my weekly weigh-in I had a 3 pound gain! Logically, I know it's really not all actual fat gain, but it really got me down. Your response, in effect, "I'm not a number on the scale" helped me. I, too, really only had my health as a goal with surgery, and I AM so much healthier now! I will increase my exercise and water, and still weigh-in once per week to keep me on track, but I will remember my original goal which was to be able to play with my granddaughter, which I do! Thanks again.

Deary...You do know that you can't gain 2 pounds with an added 400 calories! Might be salt that adds water weight but it's not really weight gain..Seriously it could be constipation too. I've been known to have a 1.5 lb poop after I've been constipated..and 16 oz of water weighs a pound, you know?

Now, if you've added a couple pounds of muscle, that's still smaller than two pounds of fat so you didn't add much size..

You need to focus away from the scale and more with inches..less on calories, more on salt and such..getting the protein in, less white carbs, less sugar and more fiber..You're really doing good..Don't beat yourself up, it doesn't help!

It's not the number on the scale but your reaction to it..really. it's not going to take 400 or 500 or even 1000 calories to gain a pound. Do a search on it..it's a rediculously high number no where near 500 calories..You'd never be as hard on a close friend as you are on yourself..

No more pitty parties but no more beating yourself up either!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
