presciption diet pills after WLS

Before I had WLS, I tried every diet known to man. My Dr. eventually prescribed Phentermine diet pills, which were very effective. I think I lost close to 40lbs at one point and had loads of energy. The problem was that when I did not take the phentermine, I would have no energy and a huge appetite. ... so I was on it for over a year. Now, I'm considering a new script for Phentermine.. just to lose 10lbs and help me get back into an exercise routine. Has anyone else used diet pille before with any success or do you think it might just plunge me into a worse case of weight gain and start the whole weight cycle over again?

I logged on today to ask this question, too!  I went to a seminar at another wls office and they offered a "program" for the low low price of $795!  I decided instead to choke down the $20 copay and go to my doctor.

In my state, OH, you can only be prescribed phentermine for 3 months.  In KY, it's 6 months.  I want to take this to help me jump start my weight loss again (I'm 4 years out).  I don't want to be on it forever, just enough to get back on track.  For me, the 3 month limit is good.

My doctor told me to get into my exercise routine for 4-6 weeks first.  He said his patients that were already on an exercise routine had much better results.  For those who didn't start first, it took 4-6 weeks for the drug to take effect.  But for those who started exercising first, the results were immediate and lasted the whole 3 months.

This is a bit of a catch 22 for me.  I wanted to use this to help me get on my exercise routine.  Now, I'm using it to help motivate me to get on my exercise routine.

I would really appreciate comments and advice for anyone who has taken this.

Thanks!

Something in those pills gave me nightmares.  Don't know if it was the drug itself or the stress of having to take a diet pill, but I never made it past two weeks when I would try them.  If you don't have side effects from them, they might be a good way to help you get back on track.
