Breast Issues?
I am 4 years post op and I seem to have breast issues now. I have had 1 duct removed (leaving it a 1/2 cup smaller >B) from one breast and am now dealing with similar issues on the other. Prior to surgery I wore a 48 DD and now I stuff all my skin into a stretchy supportive 34B with an extra pad in the one side. The hard/foam cups are too large and I slide out of them. Unfortunately for me I do not seem to qualify for reduction through insurance because there is not enough 'tissue' to remove.
I did have one consult with a PS who said that he would recommend a lift to remove the excess skin (obviously) but that unless I had implants inserted I would not have anything left so there went the possibility of saying they were too heavy and painful.
I have questioned whether this practice of packing them in a bra could be causing the problems in my breasts to no avail. In my opinion after 3 years of cramming something into an un-natural form it begins to alter? Everything on imaging (1 mammo last year, 2 mammo + 2 US this year) shows the tissues to be 'normal' yet I have abnormal discharge (normal culture) and lots of lumps and bumps... usually not painful but occasionally they are. I don't notice any changes according to my cycle also so that would say they are not hormonal.

I am 8 years post-op. I had a breast reduction after losing my weight (have since regained 75% of that weight back). Did you think about having a breast reduction? Medical insurance will pay for it if medically necessary....and I was having back problems and severe rashes once I lost the weight. Prior to surgery I was a 44 FFF, had a reduction and was a 34 C. I didn't have those issues you are talking about but a reduction might help. Just a thought. The reduction was the easiest of all 3 surgeries that I had.
I have consulted with a PS and really I am not a candidate for reduction. There is not much tissue that can be removed. Like I said... my skin fills a B cup... I have spoken to my insurance and they have minimal tissue amounts that would have to be removed. The lowest amount is about 1/2 a pound from each breast. They will not tell me if that would include any removed from along my side.
I also am not fortunate enough to have skin rashes etc that would provide a reason. I have been seeing a chiro and even some PT on my left shoulder but since I only wear a B cup they will not say I have pain due to the sagging skin. The last breast nurse I saw said I can buy more supportive bras? I asked her where to find the super support bras in a B? Because I can't seem to find any... And that only brings me back to the beginning... How does it affect them to be crammed in a bra all the time?
As far as I know I have no family history of breast disease of any sort. I considered having a lift etc done as a "cosmetic" procedure but then discovered that "cosmetic" procedures are not covered by my insurance for any future complications that may arise. So if I had a breast lift and implants done cosmetically I would then be responsible for any costs including extra imaging in routine mammos due to the implants.
At this point I think I just have to be vigilant and everytime there is a new lump or bump etc run to the doc and get another series of images and then maybe they will start to realize that there needs to be a resolution.
