gallbladder symptoms and removal 6yrs out

okay so i've been doing really well health wise till this last year when iron defeciancys showed up along with a crap load of other issues. suffi**** it to say its been a rough year but i have been doing better.  5 months ago i had a total knee replacement, as a result of it i devolped ulcers due to anti-inflamitories and one preforated causing and emergency open surgery to repair it.  Thankfully all that has healed and my body was starting to bounce back from having 2 major surgerys just 5wks apart.

Now the newest and most frustrating. i  now have gallstones and am having bad attacks so my family dr is sending me back to the surgeon for removal of the gallbladder as soon as possiable.  I'm 6 yrs out from gp and dont get why this suddenly happened.  she is a little confused as to the pain as some of it is not where she expects the gallbladder to be but it is in the back etc.  Heres my questions as theres not much information about this esp. since i had that ulcer repair just 3 months ago.  with the gp is my gallbladder in a different spot? since i recently was cut open through the abs will they be able to do the surgery through the laparscopy or will they have to do an open surgery again?

i would appreciate any information on all this. as things are getting worse by the day and i see my surgeon this week, the same one that did my last surgery. im scared and inbetween attacks trying to get things ready for the family while im recovering yet again

The gallbladder is in the same spot. But pain is weird and often we feel it in a reflected spot and not the spot with the problem. Pain being reflected to the back is actually fairly common.

As to why this is happening now, anyone can develop gallstones at any time whether they've had surgery or not. Sometimes massive weight loss can trigger them but sometimes they are there all along and just slowly getting bigger until they finally cause a problem.

I don't know if they will have to go in open. Probably not but that's something the surgeon will decide based on your anatomy and past adhesions.

thank you so much, the pain started out in the right spot the graduated over.  i accutally had been ignoring it for a month thinking it was pain from scar tissue from a prefroated ulcer i had repaired in august with an incision down my abs.

from what i read so far looks like its probably going to be open because of that surgery but we shall see. all i know for sure is its gotten worse so he needs to do something today.

I ignored mine for six months!

I was convinced every time I had food poisoning until I had two attacks two days in a row in two different cities. I figured that was unlikely to be from food so I went to the ER and they diagnosed me in about 5 minutes my symptoms were so classic.
