Hello! I had Sleeve surgery almost three weeks ago and I have only lost 27 pounds. I am not sure if this is normal or not but I thought for sure I would have lost more by now??????

I am not familiar with your type of surgery , so I suggest that you look at your surgery type's Forum.  You can look at the posts and threads there before posting your question.  It's possible that your question may have been answered recently.

You seem to be dealing more with disappointment than with depression.  Both are fairly common following surgery.  Disappointment may just require a quick attitude adjustment.  However, if you are actually depressed, talk to one of your doctors and see about being put on a short-tern course of antidepressants.  Many early post-ops go that route for a few months and get reevaluated to see if they still need to continue on them.  Post-op depression is often cause by hormonal changers and can occur regardless of whether your surgery was successful.

The average after RNY is 20 pounds the first month, then 10 pounds a month until month 6 and 5 pounds a month after until about 100 pounds is lost.  I don't have as much experience with the sleeve, but the patients that I have worked with so far have had similar results.

Your weight loss seems higher than average.

So you've lost almost 10 pounds a week. Exactly how much were you expecting to lose???

Average for VSG in the beginning is .5 to 2 pounds a day so you are right in there at the high end of that. Eventually it will drop off to around 2-3 lb. per week.

Of course everyone is different and it also depends on how much you have to lose to begin with. The higher than number is the more pounds will fall off on the scale.
