I havent had a protein shake since my first year out.  But i hate to eat breakfast.  for the life of me, i cant remember which shakes are good.  I dump, so i cant have any sugar ones.
So do you remember what you used to drink?

Costco has a good one called premier protein.  It is one of the cheapest...$23 for 18 of them.  It has 30 grams of protein, 5 g of carbs and 1 g of sugar.  I wished I had dumping but never have.

I generally like the ones from Syntrax.  Note that hey have recently come out with 3 called Max Pro that are higher in calories and carbs without a similar increase in protein.  I just got a new Matrix flavor called Mint Cookie.  It does include 3g of sugar per serving.  Some people need to have zero g of sugar.  I'm not that sensitive.  I am a food addict, but I do know what I can tolerate.  Carbs, sugars, and conversions to blood sugar is a complex subject beyond my comprehension.  I know I have to stay away from addictive foods but trace amounts of sugar or carbs don't bother me.

As I've written elsewhere, you can get pretty good info on the use of protein supplements by going to www.vitalady.com .  You can also look in the diet and nutrition Forum on OH where members have rated many protein products.  If you need to look up labels, go to www.netrition.com and you can select the manufacturer, the product, and then check for nutritional info.  I find that helpful since I do most of my shopping online.

Oh Yeah...chocolate flavor 18 grams protein and 2 grams sugar...Not the BEST tasting one but it serves the purpose and for me it works...Actually I prefer the taste of Slim Fast vanilla..I used to dump on most shakes including Slim Fast but after being 7 years out my body can tolerate the sugar in Slim Fast
Good Luck to ya!

Don't drink protein shakes but I use them in my meals..for instance, PROTEIN WAFFLES:

2 large eggs
1/2 cup cottage cheese (non fat is what I use)
1/2 cup plain soy milk (not so much sugar in that)

1/3 cup CarbQuick Baking Mix (very low carbs)
2 scoops Carb Thin Soy Protein Baking Mix
2 Tablespoons Flax seed meal (I grind this myself)

This has 185 calories, 8.2 grams of carbs, 22.0 grams of protein..for a single serving and what you see above makes FOUR waffles..

It feels like it's carby but it's not at all. AND my dad, who is diabetic has no shift in his blood sugar because of them. Now, the sugar free syrup will be a killer cuz there's alot of carbs in that but I make these ahead and freeze them and they're every bit as nummy popped into the toaster..

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I agree with Regina.  Costcos Premium Protein Shakes are the best that I have tried.  I drink one for breakfast every day before my workout and then I drink another one after.  They are pre-maid which make them convenient, which I love.  No dumping after drinking them.

I'm curious why you stopped... I like Champion Pure Whey Protein Stack in Chocolate. It's GREAT!! Low carb, no sugar, and mixes great in a shaker cup. You can even drink it warm like hot cocoa. I also like Unjury unflavored protein made with SF/FF chocolate pudding. You can't taste the protein at all and a 1/2 cup serving comes out to about 14 grams of protein. Can't beat that!
