The Twinkie Diet
I think buried in the catchy headline of this article is the grain of truth.
That in weight loss, pure calorie counting is what matters most -- not the nutritional value of the food.
I partly agree that Calories are King and also that Twinkies are not inherently evil. The food is neutral: your additction to it might make them "evil" for lack of a better word.
When you get down to it: it's the relationship between satiety and calories that is at the root of finding the right foods. I mean, you may have a 100 calorie pack of Oreos (nothing wrong with that when counted appropriately) but you may then say: IS THAT IT? and eat 5 or 6 more. Now, did that happen because Oreos are not satisfying or because some inner addict compels you to eat them like they are the last Oreos on the planet?
I love studies that find the obvious: "It may be an issue of portion size and moderation"

Exactly! I totally agree...beer, vodka, whiskey ...none of those are evil..not even wine..but if you can not say no to it, then it becomes a problem..
The problem I have with twinkies..even sugar free ones, is that when you eat one, it just begs to be joined by more...more cookies, more twinkies, more bread, more empty carbs...just bad!

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
