Newbie to this Site
Today is the first time I have read this forum. I think I am going to like it and log more.
I am 25 months out from RNY. I have lost 165 lbs. I have also had many complications. Ten days out of surgery I had emergency surgery when my bowel burst. Left with an incision of about 12" long and 4" wide (lost belly button but not life). two months later I blacked out, fell and broke my hip. Surgery again. I had a wound vac for 10 months and rehab for 3 wks. Things started turning around for me. I am also anemic and had to have several blood transfusions during surgery and after. Finally in good enough health to have the hernia repaired from the bowel and he removed 9 lbs of skin from my tummy. This was a piece of cake! But then a few weeks later I developed an infection on the hip incision. Treated this for 4wks (I refused to have surgery since my body couldn't take any more.)
Well, after 4 mo the leg won and I had minor surgery. This was only 4 weeks ago and the infection is back. Don't know where we are going from here.
All this being said, the real weight loss is a blur. But I have the same fears as others have mentioned. I still weigh daily and the weight fluxuates 1 -4 lbs daily. I don't let this bother me because I know "tomorrow" it will be different.
I am kinda lucky in that I live by myself. I control what foods I bring into the house. I try to limit my carbs like flatbread (whole wheat), sweet potatoes, etc to twice weekly. Protein first. I had to up my protein intake before the last couple of surgeries and am trying to cut back alittle now as doc says too much will make me gain weight because of the extra calories. My doc only allows me to eat 3 meals a day with no snacks. Sometimes I will add a snack if hungry, just won't tell him.
I log my food daily. I can plan early in the day and adjust if I change my mind. I log into Nutrimirror.com. Love this site!
Because of fear, I attend 2 support groups and tried OA last week. I don't think I will continue with this. I try to do some sort of planned exercise three times a week. I also just read Cognitive Thinking ...by J Beck.. Lots of good ideas. Hope I didn't ramble too much but thanks for listening.
It sounds like your really working your new eating habits well. I use fitday.com when I remember to :).
So ramble away, we're here for you.
