Sunday, Goals/Achievements/Set Backs

Because so many people replied, or viewed, my original post (Don't want to be a Failure), it was suggested by Edie that we try and start and daily thread to help each other out.

So, here we go. I will get started:

One of the replies talked about their daily walking. Now, I have been very bad about any type of regular exercise so I thought that might be a good place to start.

Goal: Went out on Saturday and bought a new pedometer. Decided it was time to start stepping up to the  exercise band-wagon.

Achievement: Took my pregnant daughter-in-law to the Mall today. We got there an hour before the stores opened so we could just walk around the mall a few times window shopping. After the stores opened we went around again visiting all the stores we wanted to go into. Came home and helped my husband clean the house. Didn't do as many steps as I would have liked, but still feel good about doing it.

Set Back: Not really a set back, but I did finish off the last 6 pretzels and 2 pieces of Biscotti. Those 2 carbs are now gone.

On Going Goal: Not to buy any more of those darn Utz Pretzels. Loved those things!

And that's my day.

Tomorrows Goal: To walk around the building I work in 2 times during my lunch break. Our building is quite large so I will be interested to see how many steps that is.

Thanks, Fran

Today my goal was to not eat so many white carbs..It seems like lately that I'm wacked out over carbs and eating way too many of them..bread and pasta aren't the issue..it's sugar free cookies and stuff like that. And I noticed that when I eat those things, I cut back on the water..this is totally unacceptable so I wanted to 1) prove that I can just say no and 2) make things better in this area

Today I did spend too much time on the computer but I did get some things done around the house. I made my protein waffles ahead and did laundry..plus I sorted through the Christmas bags to get things organized for the grandkids..But while on the computer, instead of popcorn or cookies...my container of flavored water is my companion..I did good.

We dont' have the money to do as much shopping and home is where my problem with exercise is so I need to work on that this week..

Thanks!

I saw your recipe for waffles today, I don't have a waffle maker so when I make my carbquick it's pancakes, a bit thick though, so I have to thin them down but their damn yummy anyways!

Congrats on keeping the flavored water next to you today, when I'm being 'good' I always grab my packets too :).

I keep assorted packets in my car, in my lunch bag, in mye and at my desk at work..I know myself..that's why I plan ahead

You can make pancakes with extra protein by adding any and all of the stuff that I do to my waffles..I found the cottage cheese pancake recipe from eggface and adjusted it from the back of the Carb Thin protein soy mix..I really <3 waffles and pancakes but the carbs and NO protein just makes it so horrible to try and eat them..so I make them at home and that helps..

Waffle irons during the holidays are pretty cheap if you're interested...and you can shop for ones that are new on ebay too...I just got a crockpot on there, a huge one that's programable for about half the market value..

Thanks for the encouragement..

Hi Fran,

Thanks for starting this.

I am SO PISSED right now! I don't know if this is an OH thing or not, but I just typed along note to you and I got a fatal error, it didn't save anything, so I have to start all over again, that's the 3rd time today!!! FRUSTRATING!!!

Anyways thanks again.

My goal lately is to work out 5x's a week. Yesterday I had to take my puppies to the vet (their 8 months old and over 50 lbs each!), we went to my favorite park afterwards, it's like you just drove 3 hours up north 50 yards from the parking lot....I love my park! We went for a 'little' walk, over 2 hilly miles later, even the puppies were looking for the car :), today I took them for a 30 min. walk then did my 'core' workout. Drank too much Rum over the weekend, but for me if I get in a groove with exercise my drinking and eating come in line, just not worth all the work I just did!

After work tomm., and a few other days this week I'm going to help the dh stack the wood we just had delivered (we had over 5 cords dumped yesterday!).

Have a great day all,

Edie

Of course I just copied this in case I had to paste it and it worked just fine :)

Thinking of all that "wood stacking" and my back is hurting FOR you!!!

But I can only imagine that it will burn a lot of calories. So, that's a good thing (as Martha would say).

I like working outside and will miss it during the coming winter months. I might just have to do some inside remodeling to keep me busy. But then I will be a first time Grandma come late January, and might be too busy helping out to do anything around my house. LOL!

Tomorrow is another day, and we will take this one day at a time.

Good Night all!

My goal for tonight and every night is to keep from eating in the middle of it. When I wake up and then can't sleep I will start thinking about food and the next thing that happens is that I get up and eat it. I have been really working on this the last couple of nights and trying to keep my calories down also so I can get the 2 pounds I am up off. This morning I was 131.6 and want to keep it in the 130-132 range rather than the 133-34 range. I know 2 pounds is not much but I also know myself after 45 years of yo-yo dieting that if I let this go it will be 5 and then 10. You all know how that goes. I also am committed to averaging 12000 steps a day and today was 20,000 thanks to a 7 miles hike. I like to eat 2000 calories a day and can only do that if I average 12000 steps so it works hand and hand.

Good luck to all of us.

I know too well how just a 2 pound gain can lead to 5 and then 10 pounds. I gained 14 pounds and don't like it one little bit.

As for the middle of the night eating, maybe cutting up an apple before you go to bed and keeping it in a baggie in the fridge, might help. Something quick to eat when you wake up.

Or maybe make up some protein balls and nibble on 2 when you wake up. Those are sure mighty tasty!!

Just food for thought................

Recently I have been using my protein ice cream. If I eat an apple by itself or anything else carby even with protein I will end up 2 hours later with a blood sugar crash which makes me hungry and then I have to eat to get over the low BS and it goes round and round. My best defense is not to eat anything!! Easier said than done. Thanks for the advise. I know we can do this!!

Today was a pretty good day for my new start.  I kept the munchies at bay.  I did take the topamax prescibed by my doctor to suppress my appetite while I am going through some stressful times right now.  I am not sure I like the way it makes me feel and this is day 2 of taking it, so I may give him a call tomorrow.

I did 12,000 steps, most of which came through Leslie Sansone walking exercises.  I cleaned the apartment while my husband went in to work for awhile, and stayed pretty upbeat.  All in all I think today went pretty well.

Tomorrow's goal is to do at least 10,000 steps.

Have a good Monday everyone!
