Are you still seeing a bariatric physician? So many criteria have changed since you had surgery. I would go to ASMBS and look at requirements for RNY post op. You may need to up your vitamins & supplements. Also, have you had complete labs done lately?
This message board isn't very active. I would also post on the RNY forum, as it is quite active.
You can do upper body exercise and weight training.
Go back to basics - protein first every meal and planned snacks, then veggies, fruit or whole grain. Stop eating any white flour, white sugar, white potatoes, pasta or white rice, any junk (chips or sweets).
Make sure to get in all your protein. It's OK to add protein drinks to up your protein. Get in your liquids. Keep a food journal for accountability.
You may need to meet with a dietician to get you back on track. I've read about others who went back to basics to get off their regained weight. It can be done.

You are only a failure once you quit trying. If you are posting here asking for help then you have not quit; so you are not a failure.
Call your health insurance company and ask if they have any health coaches. Many offer them for free to members with weight issues, diabetes or hypertension. If not ask your provider about a referral to one; if you are referred the cost should be covered.
You know what to do, it is just hard to do. Even more so with physical limitations. Track your food daily on the dailyplate or some other program. It helps me.
Good luck; and post to tell us how it is going!

You need to know that you have not failed until you give up. If you haven't given up, you haven't failed..
You need to get your pain under control so that you will be able to move again and not hurt..that's the first thing. You'll have a really hard time keeping any weight off if you can't walk but 3 minutes at a time, even if the original surgical tool is the only thing you have. My whole weight/calories in/calories out/ only works if I can walk..
First and foremost, get the physical issues taken care of so that you can move. I bet the original surgical tool will still work once you can move..
and know, we're here for you..

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

So, tell us about your surgery. What kind, how much bypassed, were you transected, what was the basic plan they gave you?
Sometimes adhering faithfully to a bad plan is what causes failure.
The labs/vitamin thing. Maybe I can help with that. I have a pretty aggressive fixit plan.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
I have to have iron IV occasionally as well. I actually did not absorb the iron before the WLS, so I consider the fact that we have this option a GOOD thing! I love knowing my body is getting exactly what it needs.
As far as the exercise thing, I know that Richard Simmons has videos for less mobile people & he is always upbeat and positive. There are exercises you can do while sitting down.
I am not sure why your hip replacement is still hurting; you may need to talk to your orthopedic surgeon. I work on a physical rehab unit & we have our hip patients moving as much as possible as soon as possible. We make sure they have pain control which may be what you are really needing to get up and at 'em. There are so many pain control options these days from pills to patches. If you have absorption issues, a pain patch may be your best bet. A lidoderm patch may be all you need, or you may need something stronger like Fentanyl.
