You'll probably get more responses if you post this on the RNY forum, not much traffic over here.

I did the 5 day pouch test about a month ago and I was really surprised at myself.  Let me start off by saying I'm very glad I did it and plan on doing it again next week.  But it wasn't easy.

The first 2 days were really hard.  I had not realized how much I had let myself bring carbs back into my diet.  It was really hard to let them go.  The first day I had a headache most all day and was very cranky and "hungry".  When I say "hungry", I think it was more head hunger.  I just wanted to eat.  I really don't think I was that physically hungry.  It was a bad day.

The second day wasn't that much better.  But I planned better.  My weak time is about 3:00.  So, at 2:45 I started eating soup, then jello then sf pudding and so on.  I just went down the list of foods for days 1 and 2 and kept eating.  It helped with the head hunger and to bring me into focus.

The third day was remarkably better.  I felt in better spirits and a better mood.  My headache went away.

The fourth day was good.  When I was deciding what to have for lunch, I thought about Subway and then thought "I don't want all that bread".  Wow, it had been a long time since that thought had popped into my head!  That was a turning point for me and I realized I had a chance to break the carb cycle I had put myself on.

The fifth day, I decided to keep going with eating well.  I lost less than 5 pounds, but I've been loosing 1 - 2 pounds consistently since then.  And I *feel* better.  The carbs are still hard to resist, but they don't have a hold on me.  I also feel like I don't need to eat as much to fill up my pouch.

It wasn't easy and I didn't get HUGE results, but it did show me how far off track I was and that I wanted to get back on track.  It was a wake up call and I intend to do it again.

I hope this helps you.  Good luck.
