Help, I'm evil!

Okay, RYN 2006. Poster child. Now, not so much. Gaining, eating all the wrong things, knows exactly what needs to be done. Can't seem to get it through to the rest of my body to stop doing it! I seem to be bent on destruction! What to do?!

Hey Bailee,

Sounds very familiar, not much help except to say in the same boat only one year older & still working on the wiser, got the "bounce-back" I was warned about and trying to kick it back to the curb...Life happens, so many people I know now didn't know the old me, for me going out with them tempts me back into my old habits...Have to reset the boundries and SELF TALK back from the edge of the ledge...Make the old plan new again, sounds easy - reality is its hard...

Good Luck, I'm cheering for us both

Hi, Bailee.  I am in the same boat.  I let go of some of the things I was supposed to be doing, started not following the "rules", etc. and gained weight.  I recently did the 5 Day Pouch Test, and that has really helped me to get back on track.  This isn't a recommendation for the pouch test in particular, but just to suggest that you try to find something that can give you a kick start to back on track - maybe attending a few support groups, going and seeing you dietician or doctor, re-reading old materials, etc.

I read in someone else's post about another topic (exercising).  That person said that this is hard.  But we CAN DO hard things.  Look at what we've accomplished so far?  We just need to dig deep & get to it again.

I know that is all easier said than done.  But hang in there, and start with something!

All the best to you!

Trust me, I have been playing the self-destruction game for far too long, and decided to stop it last Monday!  I have been back on the wagon since that time, and already feel so much better (plus, I'm down 9 pounds, which really helps)!  Three things have really helped me -- (1) I have been drinking at least 64 ounces of water per day with lemon (which we're supposed to drink a lot of water anyway, but I saw on CNN that women over 35 should add lemon to our water to increase our metabolism); (2) I have been writing down everything that goes in my mouth; and (3) I have been looking at the before and after pictures on this site to remind myself where I came from and where I don't want to go again!  I don't know if any of this will help, but I wish you the best.  I know it's extremely hard, no matter what!

Good luck!

Same for me - poster child early on but got too confident and allowed the wrong foods and behavior to slip in.  So here I am 20 lbs later fighting to get it off.  This is my 3rd day back on the wagon.  I've chosen to NOT be fat but boy it's really hard.  I just like to eat!  I'm tracking everything and eating every 3 hours.  It helps that I know exactly when I can eat again.

I beg to differ! you are NOT evil..You just need to find that inner strength to say no to the wrong foods..And they aren't wrong, actually...they just have a grip on you and you need to find a way to get past that. You can do it..you're stronger than the evil foods..

The longer you say no to something the easier it gets. And soon you'll find that spot where you know what is the truly evil food..I have no problem saying no to just about every cookie known to man...and i made 20 dozen cookies and cakes one Christmas just to try that out..No prob...but, and it's a big but..I absolutely can NOT say no to my husband's home made chocolate chip cookies. No way! Warm and gooey. ARGH. They can't be made while I'm in the house and if they're made, they must be consumed right away before I get a chance to sample one. So we've come to an agreement..We buy the cookie dough packed so that you break off several and bake those and the package goes back in the frig for later..I'm okay with that. The dough has no draw on me and hubby and son get their fresh baked cookies and we're all happy..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I've recently done the 5-day pouch test, too.  I'm so glad I did!  I knew I was off the wagon, but didn't realize how bad.  I had really let carbs sneak back.  The first 2 days were really hard.  I believe it was withdraw.  But I held on and the third day was better.  By the 5th day, I decided I wanted to keep going.  I am more aware of not only carbs but portion sizes.  I only lost 3 pounds on the 5-day test, but I've been steadily loosing since then because I'm eating right.

I think I will do this, or something similar, on a periodic basis.

Good luck to you and hang on.
