Need revision from RNY to DS......

My biggest problem is that I have Medicaid and the surgery is not offered in my state.  I have been hearing "NO" a lot.  I don't know where to search, or really what to do.  
Any suggestions much appreciated.

I don't have any advice, just want to wish you luck! Have you posted on the revision board; someone there may have beenin your shoes at one time. Hope it all works out for you.

Hi there friend!

I'm pretty sure you can go to any surgeon who is affiliated with a Center of Excellence.  The Rny to DS revision is more intense than any of the other revisions and there are just a handful of surgeon's with the expertise.

The short list is:
Dr. Keshishian in CA
Dr. Rabkin in CA
Dr. Greenbaum in NJ (not doing them right now)
Dr. Gagnar in Canada
and I believe Dr. Elariny in TX?

I had been to 7 surgeons for consults with the awful ERny (very distal Rny) and none would even consider treating me or they had crummy histories and I didn't consider them.  I was referred to Dr. Keshishian by friends on the DS forum and had my revision to DS in May!  There were additional expenses because he was out of state but he literally saved my life!

I recommend emailing one or more of the above mentioned surgeons.  Email and phone consults are free and can help guide you in making your decision.

I also recommend hanging out on the DS forum where people hang that have been in your same shoes.
