Hi, I am 4 years out (hard to believe!).  It is very difficult to not become obsessed with that last few pounds.  I am, have been and probably always will be.  I have had some ups and downs -- here's what seems to help for me.  I exercise every day but seemed to not lose.  Some months ago read in a magazine that if you do "interval training" (raising and lowering your heart rate by exercise - usually walking fast or walking up and down hill for at least 30 minutes daily)  and resistance training (with weights) you will lose weight faster.  It has worked wonderfully for me.  I have managed to lose the weight I wanted to lose and seem to be maintaining.  I am 5'7" and weigh 136 and will be eligible for Medicare next year.  I feel great.  This may not be for you, but it has worked well for me.  Good luck to you

i was stuck about halfway to goal a year out and took a job walking dogs--just happened to be what was available to me at the time, but I've always known having a desk job was not helping my health.  Anyway I walk now anywhere from mildly to very briskly over 2 hours a day in 15-20 minute increments and it's kick-started my weight loss again big-time.  I dropped ten pounds in a little over a month.  I'm now very excited and looking forward to what progress I can make in the next few months and even after.

i can easily vary up to 5 pounds in a month just retaining water, so it's very hard to judge my progress based on my weight any given day, which is frustrating but I have to look at long-term trends.  At least it helps me not obsess about what the scale says exactly.  i just wait for my pants to loosen up.

RNY 6/16/09 - Last weighed 10/27/2011 weighed 151 lost 52 pounds  66% toward personal goal  of 125, six pounds from unofficial unpretentious goal of 145lbs......basically very happy.   boo-rah, RNY!

Yes, its possible.  I am 2 1/2 years out and can swing my scale pretty easily.  Snacking on unfrosted animal crackers is the weight gainer for me. (Yes, those lovely little creature in the 3 lb bag from Walmart). When I eat carbs the scale goes up (no surprise as carbs were my problem for the last 20 years and I can feel it in my thighs!). When I stick to high protein and low carb the scale drops pretty easily in just a few days.  That being said.... I have RNY friends who are several years out  and wonder why they are GAINING weight.  Hummmm, they are eatting like they did preop.

Another trick of mine is I wrote my goal range on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker. I weigh daily or every other day.  When its my range that tells me its time to go back to basics with the high protein.  I dont want a few pounds to become 10, 20, 30, etc.

Preop 242  Height 5'4"  Current: 145 Want to get back to 135. ZERO Complications! ZERO Vomiting  (Chew, chew, chew)! ZERO Regrets!
