XPost - Clues Please?
Okay, so even graduates need some guidance. I'm here and asking for some ideas.
I've seen the posts on twisted bowels and obstructions. I've never ever experienced anything like that and I think I might have last night.
I went to bed about 8 pm. I'd eaten about 6:30 and was finished for the night. Nothing in my stomach. I've been having sinus issues but didn't take any nyquil before bed. I slept pretty well. At midnight I woke up all stuffed up. The windows were open and I couldn't breathe so I took some nyquil and went back to bed. I've done this before. Yeah, lots of alcohol but it clears up my sinuses and I sleep..At 1:30 I woke up in horrible pain. I mean gut wrenching-bend-me over pain..I've NEVER experienced pain like that EVER at all. I got up to go to the bathroom and couldn't straighten up completely. Like a knife in my gut!
I was scared. All I could think was it was how people describe strictures or bowel obstructions. I thought about getting some water but I just knew it wouldn't go down. Then I got the dry heaves so I forgot about drinking anything. Pretty soon the urge to go to the bathroom again and it was diarhea..
I laid on the floor rolled up in a ball and nearly in tears. I should have woke up my husband and had him take me to emergency room. I kept thinking this but just didn't want to go (yeah, I know...I have this phobia about getting to the hospital and having them tell me it's gas and to fart and be done with it)..and I layed down again..I rocked back and forth because that felt better. I swear I farted two times and it was nearly gone. This morning all is normal and I have no pain. Just embarrassment that I'm sharing with you all.
Tell me I had killer gas and that is all.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I wish I knew what it could have been, but I'm not a doctor and don't have a clue. But it does sound like symptoms I have read others describe when they had a twisted bowel. I'm thinking a doctor's visit is in order.
Good luck to you and I hope it doesn't happen again, sounded like a horrible experience.

I just wasn't sure a twisted bowel could go away on it's own. I still don't think it can so I'm looking towards a gallbladder attack..And actually, all the pieces fit for it to be that. I'm making some calls today and asking some questions..Thanks for your response..

I remember when my grandmother had her gallbladder out. The surgeon told her he was surprised that it went all the way from the right side to the left side, straight across the middle of her abdomin..She had hers out at age 60..
I had an asthma attack yesterday that felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I half thought about going to ER because it could be a heart attack..I really need to get over my phobia of going to ER..I'm gonna die and it'll be my own damn fault.

My gallbladder attacks were exactly like that.
Btw, strictures are over-enthusiastic scar tissue so it's unlikely you've developed one this far out. But a bowel obstruction, twisted bowel and gallbladder problems are all possible with the symptoms you describe.
I also put off going to the ER when I had my gallbladder attacks. So I suffered needlessly for 6 months until I finally went, go diagnosed in 15 min. and had the thing yanked out 6 weeks later. It was dumb and I'm embarrassed now about how long it took me to take the symptoms seriously.

I really appreciate your response. I did call my primary doctor and let her know. She's seeing me tomorrow for discussion..i need to come off the birth control pills but at 52, I'm afraid it would be just my luck that I'd still be fertile and end up pregnant...LOL. With twins. .. But I've changed a couple of things in my diet and I'm working on lowering my cholesterol...so we'll see. At least I have a plan of action!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Every time I talk to my doctor about BC, she insists that I can't still be fertile. So then she has me tested and I always am!
This just happened last week.
