Has anyone joined Weigh****chers after WLS?  I am 3 yrs out and really struggling with my weight.  It's piling on quick and I feel myself falling into the same old habits.  I just wondered if anyone else had joined WW after WLS and was it successful for you?

I to have gained weight and would really like to get it back off. I joined weigh****chers last year at this time and really struggled. I lost like 3 pounds in 4 months, and got discouraged and quit. There seems to be alot of carbs on their plan. I started gaining weight about 2 years out and it came on in vengense. I really need to do something soon. Seems as soon as I could keep food down it started. I went to a family wedding this weekend, wasnt good no one said anything but I know what they were thinking. I was in a size 10 2 years ago and now a 14 ????. Im going to take it one step at a time, start journaling, I think thats a big key factor and up my excersise, I do water arobics 3-4 times a week but am going to start walking also. Good luck, I know were not the only ones that have regained.

Some people have reported success with WW but I would hazard to say with the same success rate as the non-WLS population.

I think it would be more important to focus on the addiction and less on the food. So forget WW and find a good psychologist.

As long as I went to WW I did well...I took off 17 pounds in 4 months.  But the problem is I stopped going and have promptly gained bake 10 of those pounds.  My excuse...I got too busy to go and there weren't other meetings on nights I could attend.  I really need the accountability piece to make asuccess of it.  I know what and how I'm supposed to eat...BUT I need to know that I'll be weighed every week and the results will be staring me in the face...No denial when on a WW scale!!!

I too joined WW at the end of May. I lost 12 lbs but gained it all back when I went on vacation. I need the accountability of a group but the members of my WW group weren't consistent. Now I'm trying the eat clean diet and hopefully, this will work for me. Trying to learn a new way to eat for the rest of my life. I hate denying myself anyting. I've lost and regained the same ten lbs three times this year and I'm in the process of doing it a 4th time. This cycle has to stop. However, my advice to you is to continue to search for what you need to be successful. Don't give up

At three years I am back at Weigh****chers.  Their points program can be used for my diet without too many carbs.  I stick to the lean meats, low carb vegtables and make pans of roasted vegtables and of course the vegtable soup.

I no longer have cake, cookies, chips and candy in the house, unless they are a Weigh****cher version.

I went to my first meeting onThursday so don't have any weight loss yet to report.  But by tracking points I was amazed at how many I had been eating.  I was with my sister at McDonald's and ordered a sausage biscuit.  Then for lunch I had a regular Arby's roast beef sandwich.  I had used up all of my points for the day and still needed dinner and snacks.  I thought I was making conservative choices.

What weigh****chers is doing for me is showing me where I was making the fatttening choices and helping me to find lower point value alternates.

I need both the accountability and the constant reminders that come with belonging to a group like Weigh****chers.  I still need to do the work and pick the right foods, but if I don't continue to hang around with Weigh****chers I will gain weight again.

Thanks ladies~! I was feeling guilty about going - I mean I keep thinking "wow" I had surgery and now here I go again....  but at least I'm trying to stop it before it gets too out of hand.  Thank you everyone for the advice and support.  I pray this will work!

I think that any tools you can take advantage of, are good ones.  What may not work for Person #1, will work great for Person #2.  If not for anything else, just having the accountability (weighing in weekly) is a good idea - even if you aren't gaining weight.  When we don'****ch, is when the pounds creep back on.  Don't forget most of us have lower metabolisms, and it is easier to gain on almost nothing ---than others may experience.

As an alternative to WW, there is a group called "TOPS" Take Off Pounds Sensibly - nonprofit - dues are like $30 a YEAR - across the US.  Google it, and you may well find a local chapter.

I was banded April 20, 2009.
