Yesterday, I got a small fill.  I already feel so much better and food is again at the back of my mind instead of ruling my every thought. Love the power of saline and the band!!!

The last couple of times I've gone in, I felt a tiny bit of pressure to have test done and he even looked at my husband one time and asked if there was anything he could do to help him. Yikes! I haven't had a single issue so I asked if something was causing him to think I needed all these extra test (EDG or something like that). It's the test where you go to a surgery center (pay for the hospital fee), you are put under (anesthesiologist fee), and the lap-band doctor puts a scope down your stomach to look around (lap-band doctor fee), and then send stuff to a pathologist (sp)? (another fee). Anyway, he said no, but it's always a good idea to look around and make sure everything looks good. I asked the board about it and another lap-band doctor and it seems to be an odd test for someone who has never had one single issue. I know the "market" is flooded with wls centers now and the competition is tough. Not to mention the economy is awful. I just had a weird feeling. I also, heard a girl waiting in the waiting room say she wanted to switch doctors because every time she comes in the entire staff is different...this is true.
Do you think I'm reading into things? Should I do these test or look into finding another doctor?
What test does your doctor want to do? I've had my band for almost three years now.

sometimes the surgeons like to scope their patents to see how things are comming along when they go in they check for dilation of the stomach check for erogen, displacement of band and ulcers.
just like the DS or RNY where the patient has to go in every 6 months or so to get a blood test done to check for vitamin deficancies it's just a rutine check up to keep your health in check.

I work in a weight loss surgery center and I don't know why you would need to have a scope if you're not having problems.  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  As long as you have continued good results and no problems, I have no idea why they would want to scope you.  I am not sure that your insurance would pay for such a test when you are not having any symptoms of problems. Sounds strange to me but I don't want to dispute what your doctor tells you to do.  Use your own good judgement!

I'm not a believer in tests for tests sake. If he has no reasonable explanation for why he wants to do it, I wouldn't do it.

My surgeon told me at my last visit that I wouldn't even have to get lab work done any more if my labs were good this time out. (No malabsorption so no reason to have deficiencies over a non-altered person.) He's definitely not pushing for me to get some tests done.
