Almost 5 years post-op - lots of upset stomache and nausea, am I the only one?

Hi guys -

I will be 5 years post op in January and have really not had any complications.  My surgeon has moved away, and while there are other bariatric surgeons in my town, none of them want to touch someone else's patient.

I'm just wondering if this is normal?  I can eat something today and be fine, but have it again next week and be sick as a dog.  It varies from stomache cramps, to nausea (I can no longer throw up, but sometimes I end up dry heaving for up to an hour) to just a regular old belly ache. I had my galbladder out over 10 years ago, so that isn't the problem.

I'm just wondering if I am alone in this.  I'm thinking about making an appointment with a GI doc just to get some input, but I really don't want to get scoped for no reason.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

make the appointment.   ..could be ulcer, could be GERD, could be anything..why suffer with it or live with it when there is help out there?  ..i am going through the same thing, was scoped last year and had a barium study done last week..i have moderate to severe acid reflux..was aspirating the acid, am nauseous after i eat or drink anything..my surgeon put me on Protonix until we discuss the results of the barium study ..they did not a small hiatal hernia as well.

i would definitely get it checked out ..and the scope or any diagnostics they do would not be for "nothing" ..it will determine if there is a problem or not.

take care and good luck

Something is wrong.  What is happening to you is not normal.  It might be an ulcer, stricture, or acid reflux, but it is not something you should be ignoring.  Please see a doctor right away and get some help.

I am also five years out.  I have to agree with the other posts.. go see a doctor because what you are feeling seems abnormal.  I do not experience the symptoms you are explaining.

"I am currently getting back on track!
