Do you remember.....
Do you remember what if felt like after surgery when you started loosing weight? All the things you didn't expect? I remember going for a walk and my legs feeling good! My feet didn't hurt, my hips didn't hurt and my legs were eager for the journey. I remember seeing my reflection in a window and thinking "that lady had on the same shirt as me, but in a smaller size". It WAS me!!
I had RNY 4 years ago and I've slipped off the wagon. I want back on! Nearly 2 years ago I met the most wonderful man and married him! He had the lap band surgery 2 weeks ago. Going through this journey with him has opened my eyes and my memories to what it was like in the beginning. The wonderful new feelings and discoveries.
It's hard getting back on the wagon. I've almost forgotten what it is I'm supposed to eat. There are some great reminders on this board. Thanks to all that have posted. But in addition to what I should eat (and when and how much), I'm also trying to remember the "Why". Remembering how bad I felt, how much I hurt, how horrible I looked. Remembering how fun it was to loose weight, how my closet shrank as I shrank and that I should not take walking without hurting for granted. My health is better, my life is better. I'm twice the woman and half the size.
The RNY is a tool. This message board is a tool. Now, I'm using my memories as a tool, too.
Good luck to all of us. See you on the wagon!
