I am 2 1/2 years out and I have to remind myself and everyone around me all the time I had stomach surgery not brain surgery.  My surgery didn't cure my love for food, sure it put my best friend on the back shelf for awhile but boy did he come back out to play.  I Love food I always will.  I will always have to remind myself of what I should and shouldn't eat because now so far out I can eat anything .  I have to remind myself that my surgery gave me a tool to use and I have to read the manual and use it right or it won't work.  So that is why I come back here to remind myself where I was and where I want to be.  The people on here (all of You ) are my support/call center for my tool .  You help me to get back on track and get things working the way they should.  I didn't have Brain surgery but I can change my mind frame ! Thanks for letting me express myself !  April

Hi April. I've said this same thing many times; I'm a compulsive overeater and always will be. I go to OA (Overeaters Anonymous) meetings and almost always say this to people because they see I'm thin, but I know what my brain says. Recently I purchased a package of dried apricots and couldn't stop a just a couple but overate until they were gone. STUPID me! It's wonderful having these tools and hopefully we'll get through this (one day at a time).

Anything that you love to excess is out of control or an addiction. If you can't stop at one, don't start at all. Just like alcohol...You would never think to offer a beer to a recovering alcoholic but how many wellmeaners are pushing cupcakes on us, donuts? AW , come on...one can't hurt...but it really can.

Anything that causes you to lose control is a problem. Good luck to you...
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Thank you for posting. I haven't been on this site in so long and I know that is why I have started to regain weight. I have regained 10 lbs in the last few months.  I need to be reminded of the tool I have been given and get my act together.  I love reading all the accountability posts...I need to get back to the basics and start over again and go on a "diet"!

Thanks, Shelle

I don't think of it as a diet, personally..I believe a diet implies a beginning and an end..My "diet" is just what I eat and what I won't eat. I do the accountability posts to keep track of how I'm doing and to compare to others..some times no one else posts so it's just me, talking to myself! Pathetic, actually.

I'll never eat high sugar again. Like I'll never eat tree nuts either (because I'm allergic)..

Hello Everyone!
It is very tough. Next month I"ll be celebrating my 7th  year. I've gotten off of track and need to get back on . I had some health problems a few years ago, then lost my job, and I just left everything fall by the way side. Good news is I only gained 9 # but my exercise and accountability went completly out the window. I'm starting today, I actually had a protein shake this morning so I'm already ahead of the game today. Hoping to exercise later once all the cleaning is finished. Have a great day everyone!!!  Thank God for this site, I havn't been on here in years..  that is definatly gonna change!!!
