I am 14 months post-op. I still have not made it to gaol. I would like to lose another 20 pounds. I had a baby on 4-7-2010. I didn't gain one pound while I was prego in fact I kept losing weight. I was at 162 the day I had baby girl and I am now at 138. I want to know how long it took you to get to goal did you ever think maybe I wont reach my goal and I will have to make due with what I have lost and just maintain now? Do you have any advice to kick start losing weight again? I exercise daily and only eat between 800-1200 cals a day depending on my activity level that day. My doctor says I might be at my natural weight for my body witch means I may not lose another pound. What are yalls thoughts.

How much did you lose total? Whatever you lost, multiply that by .1 and that's a guess at how much loose skin you have. So subtract that from your weight now and see how far off you are from your goal... probably not that far, right?

Having the baby definitely changes things up too.

I had a pretty easy time with the weight loss and I attribute that to two things: I tracked all my food down to every last lick, bite or nibble and I exercised a lot. I still do those things, actually. If you track your food (including measuring and weighing it periodically) in an online diary, you can see if there are any areas where you could improve upon. Maybe get more protein, drink more water, workout more, eat less processed food...

OTOH, you may find when you write it all down that you are happy with your food and your exercise level and aren't willing to put in the work to go lower and that's okay too. The cool thing about tracking is that it takes the guesswork out of it.

Hi there Mia,

I needed to understand a couple of things & thought I would reach out to you for clarification.
If you dont mind my asking:
What was your preop weight?
Your current weight sounds GREAT to me!! I think its awesome that your at 138. So I just want to clarify that you want to get down to basically 100 lbs. (since you'd like to lose another 20 lbs). How tall are you?

Its great that you kept losing weight while prego - I did the same (this was years before my WLS) & the Drs were simple amazed!

What ever the answers - I agree that maticulous logging/tracking, weighing food is the way to go. 800-1200 cals/day sounds like a great # & if your getting in 4-5 days of exercise (at least 45+ mins/day) then your in the right spot.

My preop weight was 272 that is what I weighted the day before surgery. I want to be about 115-120. I am only 5 nothing so this is a healthy weight for me. My bmi woud be normal. If I lost 20 pounds I would be right at 118. I just wish I was taller :). I am happy tho with my progress I just want to know if that is all I am going to lose. After I had my baby in April I weighed 142 now 4 months later I have only lost 4 pounds.

I had to pull this from my old school profile b/c i was like 272!!  I was 272 on surg day too!!
"4/22/04: **SURGERY DAY!!** 264 @the hosp./ 259 @at the house" but i wasnt. I was 292 at my heaviest - when i started my WLS journey. I dont know why "272" just stuck w/ me, like i totally remember being that weight  - but oh well.

I could never see myself (mentally) as a 120 - perhaps that is why i never made it there - ???
My point is, if you can see yourself at 115 or 105, you can achieve it. I know losing what averages out as a pound a month is discouraging, but look at it this way, your still LOSING. So its a downward trend - your going in the right direction.

I say keep it up! You are doing all of the right things. Keep chuggin along & you'll achieve that 105. Maybe not as quickly as we use to (say like right after surg), but we'll get there.
