Ok, Working on trying to notice if I am hungry when I eat.  Also, setting up a plan to be successful with my food choices.  I like this forum and posting - as Martha Stewart says, "It's a good thing!"  Due to my schedule, I will log in online as well as on paper.  One thing at a time.  One day at a time.  Not setting too many expectations on myself right now - or I will do nothing.

Ok - here's what I have had so far today.
1 slider beef patty with 1/4 cup ff cottage cheese for breakfast
1 low fat mozz cheese stick for a.m. snack

starting to get hungry and will get picnic made for the kids.  I am loging in so that I do not snack away while i am cooking/preparing.  This is what kills me.  The grazing.  So, I will make the turkey rollups and pack the rest of the meal in a cooler without snacking.  Here we go!

Whoo Hoo!
Made the turkey pinwheels and snacked on nothing.  I was even tested with a phone call from my son trying to change his schedule and in turn my immediate schedule which really stressed me out.  I saw the anxiety through after I caught myself thinking about jamming some turkey in my mouth.  I made it through and ate nothing.  They are in the oven and baking.  Here is what I am cooking up for the kids:

Take one sheet of puff pastry and spread apricot preserves all over
Line with a 1/4 lb. of turkey
Sprinkle colby/jack cheese (1/2 c)
Roll it up
Slice it up
Bake 400 for 15 minutes

*Just got my Taste of Home book yesteday & the recipes are very kid friendly!

Grazing is a problem for me and I'm trying to break that habit.  I'm 2 years out as of July 8th.  I don't eat much at meals but grazing is easy and you can really rack up the calories doing that.  I try to plan my food for the day then spread it out.  If it's planned and in writing, seems like I do better than just recording AFTER I eat it.

There's a thread here usually every day for posting your food for the previous day, but I prefer current day.

Today's eats:

Protein coffee (30 grams of protein)
1/2 cup Fiber Plus cereal w/1/2 cup almond breeze
Strawberry Mousse protein shake with 1 cup almond breeze
Protein Bar (recipe from bariatriceating.com - haven't made yet)
Cottage cheese w/canned pears
Chicken
Salad
1/2 cup fresh strawberries

Good idea for writing it out ahead of time.  Do you make your menu the day before or the morning of the current day?  This totally makes sense.  You probably do better with eating this way...

Looking at the rest of my day, here is my plan...

Muscle Milk light protein shake
protein bar (lo cal one)
For dinner, we are headed ot a friends house so, I will choose a meat patty (probably will have burgers) and salad or whatever veggies are served.
For later, I will have either honeydew or yogurt

I usually plan the night before then first thing when I get to work I write it down.  Some days I record it here on the nutrition site or at myfitnesspal.com.  Only thing about my fitness is it doesn't allow enough protein and gives me more carbs than I need.

Those turkey rolls you mentioned above sound really good.

I heated up my chicken for dinner and couldn't eat it.  The chicken was cooked a couple days ago in the pressure cooker and tasted really good.  I couldn't even swallow this.  That happens to me a lot......leftovers taste awful.  DH had some of the same chicken and thought it tasted great.

Yes, you are right, tastes do change.  And I find, they continue to change a bit even as I am over 3 years out.

I ended up giving the turkey rolls to my friends - the kids did not enjoy them so much.  My girlfriend said they sounded like they would be good but were not too tasteful.  Her husband on the other hand, took the leftovers home.  I am thrilled that I did not try them.

We ended up moving dinner to my house.  On the way home from kayaking with the kids, I stopped and got pizza for them.  I am proud of myself for not sampling or picking at the cheese.  Instead, I made a bean salsa that I had a small bowl of.  Delish!  Filled me up and very healthy.

Just feeling light headed because I have not had much animal protein today.  As time goes on, I notice that if I do not eat animal based protein, I feel dizzy in the head.  Right now I am having a big drink of water to hopefully pass this feeling along.  After I get the kitchen cleaned, I will make my plan for tomorrow.
