W3 on the Atkins - Update

To recap - 6-wks at a time/ 10-lbs at a time.
The goal: Lose 59 lbs & get back down to my goal weight - 165 lbs.
The plan:
Mental - Consider my weight loss plan in increments of 10-lbs at a time so it is less intimidating & seemingly overwhelming than needing to lose 60 lbs.
Physical - Attack my weight loss by doing 45-60 mins. of cardio 4-5 days/wk + 45-60 mins weight lifting 4-5 days/wk alternating upper/core/lower/core/upper muscle groups, & 1 hr of yoga 1x/wk
Meal plan - rotate meal plans every 6 weeks in an attempt to keep my metabolism jumping.

I started with the Atkins program on June 29, 2010. To date, I have lost 11-lbs in just 3 weeks.
I thought it had been more than 3 weeks, but when i counted it out on the calendar, it was just weeks.
This data is contradictory to that listed at the Drs office - but since i started w/ the home scale at a specific time, i'll stick w/ the home scale at a consistent time.

Even though I had a not so encouraging visit with the nutritionist last week, I had a very encouraging conversation with my health coach yesterday. To that, I will continue on course with the current daily caloric intake of 1300-1400, current meal plan, & current exercise plan for at least the next 3 weeks.
That being said, I still consider myself in phase 1 or the induction phase of the atkins plan primarily because i have yet to accomplish the goal of 20g/day of carbs. So i dont feel that Im ready to move on.

Here's the info on Phase 1:

Objectives of Induction |  How to Do Induction Right |  What You Can Eat in this Phase
Supporting You During This Phase |  When to Move On (Q & A)

While this meal plan is not perfect & some modifications are necessary (ie: reduced fat content), I am not looking at this as a life change, but instead simply a 6wk jump start program. The main premise is to do a meal plan IN CONJUNCTION with consistent exercise.

So far, "the plan" is working :)
How about yours?

You know what - biking is hard work, so I commend you for sticking to it! It takes time to build up. I always get a great work out on the recumbant bike in the gym (which is totally different from riding outside).
My brother had cronic back pain & was completely imobile for a couple of years. 3 years, lots of prayer, & heavy duty meds later - he now rides about 40miles/week! He can even outride me!! His tail rides from the train station to his house ... in the next CITY - thats is over 20miles away! lol
What a blessing it is to see my brother WALK let alone ride like that.

Keep up the great work & you'll be banging out 20+ mi too! :)

Candace, I admire your discipline.  You are a woman on a mission.  Congratulations on your success so far.  I received an email from Atkins today explains all about fats and carbs, very interesting.  After years of dieting, I still have a hard time eating fats.

I would like to see your meal plan.  I did so well Sunday and Monday.  Yesterday, about 6 people told me about $.50 tacos.  I debated whether to have an Atkins shake or tacos.  The tacos won and I had 2.  They were a little light on meat and cheese.  I was hungry the rest of the day.

Oatmeal was sounding good but I mixed up a Roadside Lemonade protein drink.  YUK!!   I added a Crystal Lite lemonade packet and it was a little better.  Lunch today will be an Atkins shake.

Brought my gym clothes to work so I'll be headed to the gym.

You know what JB - I realized that with the close of each day, the close of each week – therein lies the beginning of another day, the beginning of another week & more opportunities to achieve my goals.   I don tknow about discipline LOL I think its just more of my being stubborn than anything else lol!!. I wake up every day struggling. I have to convince myself every day to work out. It’s 100% a battle every minute – right up until the LAST minute. Do you ever feel that way? I literally fight with myself every morning to drag my a$$ outta bed @ 5:30 or 6am & head to the gym. Shoot – mentally – the chick inside tries to talk me out of going back to the gym for a PM work out. Most of the times she wins the argument, as long as I got in an AM workout, then Im cool. Stoopid heffa, I wish she’d leave me alone & let me do that I need to do, but she’s always trying to get me to slack off.

HEY!! Those $.50 tacos are the bomb!!
Im trying to figure a way to cut out the tortilla & have them through the carne asada in a lettuce wrap & call it a day!

How did things go for you this week? Did you make it to the gym? I thought you decised to do SB?
lol you know, this mornign I forgot my shoes at home. So all i have for work today are my shower shoes LOL
