Back to Basics
Hi,
I'm about 3 years and 3 months out from RNY. I've gained about 20 pounds over the last year or so, and it's ending today!!!
I met with the program nutritionist, and I was surprised to see just how far I've strayed from the rules. Wow!
So this is what I'm doing to get back to basics:
1. Switching to a chewable multi vitamin
2. Upping my protien, especially at breakfast
3. Eliminating all soda from my diet
4. Stop eating when I'm full. You know that deep breath you take while eating--apparently, that means you're full. Who knew?
5. Increasing exercise: 30 minutes is heart healthy, 60 minutes is maintenance, 90 minutes is weight loss. I'm not sure I can get to 90 per day, but I can do better than what I'm currently doing.
6. Increasing water consumption
7. Stop drinking while eating. Why did I EVER start doing this again?????
These really aren't that difficult. I'm taking it one week at a time.

I'm bringing [my] Sexy back!
Interesting set of ideas. I think I could easily put on 20# doing all that.
1. vitamin type doesn't matter-it's what it is IN it that matters, how many mg and type of nutrient
2. i do 180g protein in supps, so more at a certain meal, no matter. my tummy is not bfast friendly anyway, so i minimize the meaty foods, unless it's more like
brunch.
3. you weren't drinking real soda, were you? I mean, my friend whose gained 40# had gotten and was drinking (more than one!) Lg soda from McDonald's! That's over 100g sugar in one drink! I don't take that much in a week! I chased her back over to diet
4. I agree. One eye on the clock, about 15 minutes of normal eat/talk speed is enough. If you're not "full", you just haven't acknowledged it
5. can't comment since I'm not a believer in cal in/cal out
6. absolutely, water as in water
7. quadruples your food volume. It's a tough one. I drink up to the first bite, then not again til the food is put away
It's not like you're alone to revert back to "normal"eating. You were doing things that way for? 30? 40" years and then eating in what to normal people is an abnormal way for 2 yrs? It's not a character flaw to forget that we are special, always were, always will be.
