4 Years ago today ( Surgury changed my life )
It's hard to believe that 4 years ago today, I had lap-band surgury. It's changed my life for the better I could be any happier. I've achieved my goal and then some. I wouldn't change anything at all. Yes, I've had my ups and downs, that's all part of this journey, the main point is that I am happy and healthy.
I wish this for all. It's compleatly achievable......
Thank you,
Jennifer

Congrats on your new "birthday". Happy and healty is a great feeling.
I'm 2 years out and still don't know who this "skinny" woman is, on some days. When someone says I'm "petite", I look over my shoulder to see who they are talking to.
Other days, I catch a glimpse of myself in a store window, or a mirror and go "wow, girl, you look hot". LOL

I can compleatly identify with you. I have to look twice at myself just make sure what I am looking at is what I'm really looking at. I used to be the Big Girl in the group, now I'm the smallest, go figure. There are people of course we all have to deal with that aren't going to like how we look. I don't hang around those kinds of people because frankly, I want supportive people around me.
You look great yourself by the way....
By the way there is nothing wrong with being a little "Vain" I think we have earned it.

Congratulations!!! You should be very proud of yourself as that is quite an accomplishment!
I really like that you said: "Yes, I've had my ups and downs, that's all part of this journey, the main point is that I am happy and healthy."
I think that is such a key point to share. Sure, we will all face ups & downs. that's only to be expected in life. What matters is how w/ deal with those ups & downs. How we take advantage of those opportunities for improvement so we can each achieve our goals.
Thanks so much for that encouraging word & Congratulations again on your success!

I'm 2 years out as of 7/8/10 and had RNY. I was a pro at avoiding mirrors but now I'm fine with them and even have a full length mirror in my bedroom. In my office, all the offices have glass fronts. Oh how I used to hate seeing my reflection but now I don't mind at all. The first time I saw myself in the reflection I couldn't believe it was me.
Even people who are naturally thin probably have ups and downs. My office has a lot of food brought in for meetings. I hear a lot of the thin ones turning down dessert and saying they would like to but no thanks. Those who shouldn't be eating those "goodies" are usually the ones first in line.
Congrats to you for your success!!
