Does your body feel cooler?

I am hoping to have wls soon. I always sleep with a fan on and can wear shorts in winter because I am always hot from my extra "padding". Now that you are thinner do you feel cooler? Weird question, huh?

Not a weird question at all!  LOTS of us get cold very easily in the cool months... even those of us who used to be like you are now!  I tolerate the heat better than before, but I still hate hot, humid weather.

Some poeple find that their body adjusts to not having that extra insulation, but so far mine has not.  I freeze all winter.

I'm 2 years post-op.   Not a weird question.  My air conditioning bill is a LOT lower.  Yes, I am cooler.   I use to wear shorts in winter, sleep under just a sheet and kept my house about 68 degrees in the summer.   Now I have fleece nightwear with long sleeves in the winter and we keep the house between 75 and 78 degrees in the summer.  I bought my first pair of gloves last year and needed a winter coat, not just a fleece poncho.

It is very weird for me, but so is having a bony butt and my backbone hitting against hard chairs...lol.    Also, crossing my legs under a table and not wondering if I will fit into a booth are still a little strange to me.

I catch a glimpse of myself in a store window and wonder who it is.   I've been the same weight for a year.   I weigh myself about once a month, if I think about it.   My only regret is that I didn't do this 10 years ago.    I'll take the lady who gets cold over the fat lady, any day.

This is life changing.   Good luck and be cool.

Just call me chilly willy. I still don't like the heat and humidity, but my AC is set at 78 now, not 68 and winter time is really rough.

I'll be so glad not to be "hot and fluffy"! I also avoid certain restaurants sometimes because I don't want the embarrasment of not fitting into the booth. Thanks for your replies everyone!

Unfortunately that did not work for me. I am still hot - but doing better.  But i also started menapouse - so that may be it.  And i lost most of my padding.  It is a ***** to cool the house this summer.  It is never cold enough.  But - that's me...

lol thats a great ?? Kandis.
Im always cold - freezing in fact - but i was iron deficient anemic pre WLS & I remain so to date.
with reference to the natural "insulation" factor lol, I dont think i had that much of an issue with not having the added insulation around.
the PADDING on the other hand was soemthing all together. I remember my body would hurt so much while sleeping b/c my bed sucked & i could now totally feel the hard & broken springs!
Or my son would lay on my legs & I would yelp in pain from his elbows piercing me. LOL!!!! When i was heavier - i didnt have that problem!! LOL

Best of luck!!
Candace :)

Humidity can still make things uncomfortable but 80 - 85 is perfect..

I was hanging around some obese relatives last week and there was no A/C with temps in the 80's.  They were huffing and puffing, wiping the brow and I was like, ITS FINALLY COMFORTABLE!  They sat immobile in the shade, I did my 3 mile run for the day.

Yes! I felt like I took off a heavy coat, and that I finally could take it off! Now I wear layers and a sweater at work cause I'm cold! Love it!
