Confessions of Pie!

I've been doing so well these past 6 weeks getting back to basics and sticking with my plan for eating. So well in fact, that I've lost 12 pounds in those 6 weeks and I'm pretty darn proud of myself!

But yesterday morning I went to the farmer's market and bought the most fantastic blueberries. My in-laws were coming to have dinner for the 4th and on a last minute whim I made a blueberry pie. Well, my blueberry pie is always freaking fantastic. I told myself that I'd have one piece and that's it. Well I had one piece yesterday and then one again tonight! I threw out everything that was left tonight so it can't call to me anymore.

It's over and I can't change it so I'm not going to dwell or bash myself for the weakness I already knew I had. I'm just here to publically say two things:

1. If it's in the house it calls to me and the strength/wisdom comes not from not eating those foods, it comes in not MAKING those foods in the first place.

2. Starting in this moment I am back on the bandwagon.

Hey, at least the rest of my food for both yesterday and today was fine.

Thanks for being my witnesses!

how often are blueberries so perfect? I'd say once a year and you splurged and had some baked into a pie..It was a home made pie and so it wasn't packed with additives and preservatives.

I'd say two pieces isn't bad but I feel your pain. You could have given the whole left over pie to the inlaws possibly and kept to the one piece deal or cut the pieces bigger and made everyone get rid of the pie in the one sitting...But you did awesome getting rid of the whole thing..I usually take the left overs to work and let the piranha eat them..

You're in the right place..Good job..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Why consider yourself off the bandwagon?

What kind of life would it be if we can't enjoy something wonderful now and then.  What could be more perfect than a homemade blueberry pie?  Berries are one of the best fruits going.  (Not to mention that right now they are so perfect.)  You had your fill, the rest is gone. The end.

All I know is that if I don't enjoy something like that once in a while in a planned indulgence I will get caught off guard and end up gourging myself and getting out of control.

Happy Summer

Thanks for the encouragement and supportive words. I completely agree with you about being able to enjoy something wonderful now and then - especially when it's homemade! I'm just not in "maintenance mode" right now, I'm in "finally getting my act together to lose the 20 pounds I still have left from when my son was born 2 years ago mode"! LOL!

In maintenance I'm all about moderation and not deprivation. But I just got my mojo back so it felt good to stay honest and put out there that I know I still have work to do.

Thanks again,
Elizabeth
