So what's the difference between Soya Powder & Soy Flour?

Fearn Soya
Powder Soy flour is made by grinding whole dry soybeans into flour in the same way wheat kernels are ground into flour. Soy flour often contains considerable hull material, is more coarse, and may even be raw. Soy flour is often dry-toasted after grinding to improve flavor and digestibility. It may be used in baking recipes.

Soya Powder is made by cooking the soybeans before grinding. Soya powder is finer than soy flour and usually has a better flavor. It may be used to make soya milk and it may also be used in baking recipes.

We recommend
Fearn Soya Powder because it's made from good quality soybeans by washing the beans in water and then Arrowhead
Mills Soy Flour steam cooking at a maximum temperature of 215°F. The hulls are removed to avoid grittiness and because they are not a good source of nutrients anyway. The final step is grinding into a fine powder.

Soy Flour is better suited to use in dredging meats, mixing with other flours (including nut flours) and baking items for which a "nuttier flavor" is preferred. Our favorite brand is
Arrowhead Mills Soy Flour. It's certified organic and has a rich, sweet flavor and aroma.

Fearn
Protein Isolate The last choice is Soy Protein Isolate.
Fearn makes a good product here too. While Protein Isolate is nearly zero carbs, it cannot be used as a substitute for the others as a baking option. However, it can be superb for stretching and binding a mix, meatloaf, shake, etc, while adding no carbs and lots of healthy protein.

Soy Flour can be found in most specialty or health areas of grocery stores. Soya Powder and Protein Isolate can be harder to locate, but can be ordered online from most of the lowcarb specialty shops in our Shopping Guide.


but if they can both be used for baking or have similar results - that'll save me a lot of hassle. I jsut dont want to waste $ getting the wrong products.

There's no rule that says you have to eat breakfast foods for breakfast. Try making sandwiches out of cream cheese rolled up in turky breast slices. Do you like egg custard? How about egg salad?

Im not sure about the custard, but i love egg salad.
I hadnt thought about cream cheese rolled up in turkey! thats a good idea & you are so right about the non existant "breakfast" rule. I love having breakfast for dinner, so why not the other way around! :)

BTW - i started off this morning w/ an egg/bacon/cheese breakfast burrito & could barely manage to choke down a 1/4 of it. I ended up giving it away.
So i remembered your cream cheese rolled in turkey breast slices. It was OK.. not bad at all actually. Filled me up & that was good.
More importantly, it brought to mind one of my mom's famous old hors d' oeuvers. She use to take sliced ham, spread cream cheese on it & roll a green onion up in it - then slice it & close it w/ tooth picks.
They were always a party fav. I loved them & i had NO IDEA they were such smart healthy low carb snacks!

So, thanks for helping bring that memory back

I make protein shake - water based = with almost no carbs . Then mid morning I would have some cheese + cold cuts roll up - maybe a cucumber? or a pickle.   
Lunch -salad+ meat or cheese or eggs
and so forth... snack - Atkins protein bar...
then easy dinner. 

LNS: protein crisps + whipped cream... so good..  look for Whey protein crisps - the chocolate are quite good by them self or in food.

i do not have TJ here but they do not carry them in my whole foods.
There are only a few places I can find them.  I like them even the plain  but some people do not care for them.  Google them I think I got mine at Vitacost.com  netrition.com carry them - but the price is higher.  Vitacost shipping $4.99. They carry other - good stuff.  Once you register with them - they will send you offers for free shipping, coupons, etc.  Once i get that - that's when I buy mine... so not only I save on cost - but also - on shipping. 

If you do not want to buy the whole tub- email me your address and i will send you a little to try first... - just because...
