Insanely hungry the minute I wake up
How in the world do I get rid of this?! I've had it all my life but then it stopped after VSG surgery. Now, almost a year out, its back. The minute I wake up, I'm starving. This could be during the night or first thing when my alarm goes off. And during the night, it's super hard (moreso than in the day) to avoid the hunger and I end up munching on something. Whether its healthy food or not, I do NOT want to eat during the night! First thing in the morning, my coffee curbs my hunger for just a little while but then on my way to work, I'm starving. But if I have a protien shake (which is what I try to do for bfast), I get BAD stomach cramps and can barely make it to work.
Is there anything I can eat, the minute I get up from sleeping, just to curb my appetite until a little later in the morning (when I can tolerate a more normal bfast) without it being too carby or heavy on calories. It's got to be something I can grab and go b/c I have 3 kids under 4 to get dressed, fed and out the door by 6:45am to daycare! I have no time to boil eggs or anything like that (even though I wish I had the time!). Cheese stick? Wi**** could be donuts lol.... (not really but you know)

fiber one bar or fiber one cereal? a banana? or both. you could try boiling eggs in the evening or while you're making dinner and have them ready to pick from the fridge at any time. i boil a dozen at a time and take them to work with me for my mid-morning meal. i also LOVE the eggbeaters. they are fast and easy and very filling to me. i just add cheese on top for extra protein.
Hunger right away in the morning makes me think you may have low blood sugar. Not diabetic low, exactly, but low.
I once had a eggs only breakfast and was still ravenous despite eating an appropriate amount. I asked the dietician about this and was told that after sleeping you wake up naturally with a low blood sugar. When your body needed fuel but didn't have any carbs handy, it said "FEED ME"
So, I might suggest a Bananna. It is high sugar but healthy (unlike a donut) and should give just enough carbs to keep the engine running until breakfast.

When i wake up like that - I would have 1 tsp of nut butter. (almond butter, natural no sugar added). the fat, proteins, and some carbs - makes my stomach happy.

Are you still on your ppi? It could be acid reflux if it also happens in the middle of the night.
