Lap Band after Gastric Bypass - anyone done it?
Hi. I will be 8 yrs out this August and having been contemplating getting a lap band. My original doctor does not do them and we have been speaking over email about it. I am thinking of using making an appt with Dr Roslin or Dr Kurian in NYC as they were part of Dr Leitman's original team. I've checked my insurance and they do cover bariatric surgery.
I was 305 before surgery, got down to a low of 175 (right after plastics) and hovered around 189 from 2002-2007. The last 3 years I've put back on close to 50 lbs.
I'm not looking for any "advice" on how to lose the weight and I don't want any "go back to the basics" speak, I'm just looking to speak to anyone who has done Lap Band after RNY.
Thanks.

One of the gals in my support group had that done and it worked wonders for her.

I remember seeing someone's signature over on the RNY board where they had this done and are happy with the result. You might want to post this over there as well to see if you can find that poster.

Somewhere inside me, there is a fat girl just dying to get back out. I mostly just try to keep her subdued with sugar free pudding, but she's not amused.
There is someone (Lucy) on the Illinois and DS boards who had it done. I know some people refer to it as the "BOB," band over bypass. She is miserable with it because she can eat slider foods and such and has regained even more weight since she got it placed. She is looking to revise to the DS in August.
Just remember, the band will only be restrictive--your malabsorption from your RNY is gone and you will counting calories and stuff again.
Best of luck to you, no matter what you decide!
