I totally missed my 4 year surgiversary
I totally missed my 4 year surgiversary. I jokingly told my wife: "we should have gone out to eat." And she responded (perfectly) "to an all you can eat Buffet"
Anyway, things are pretty stable. I'm never hungry and I always want to eat.
My weight was 197 given a goal of 195 (plus or minus 5)
I weight train twice a week and I run (3 miles) twice a week.
I don't dump and eat what I want in moderation. I know its "moderation" because last time I was at McDonalds I ordered a Mac snack wrap and dollary fry while the guy next to me ordered a chicken sandwhich, large fry, and two quarter pounders. Pretty sure it was his as I didn't see two other people with him,
They key (I think) is to control your food addiction. If you're having problems it's not your metabolism, bad knees, kid's snacks in the house or anything else...face the fact you either A) Eat to much or B) move too little.
Always remember that almost all of your post surgery job will be mental and foods are not good or bad...the food is neutral but your relationship with it may not be.

Very well put - and congratulations on your 4 year surgiversary!!
I think most people tend to blame food - knowing we have control of ourselves, but just "can't help ourselves" and that's what got us into this mess to begin with.

Seriously, I'm almost 5 years out and after being at my goal for a long-ish time (longer than I'd ever maintained ANY weight EVER) I got pregnant (on purpose) and had my son. Well, that was two years ago and I'm still not back to the pre-baby weight. I do triathlons, run three to five times per week etc. but the weight won't budge.
I've had to admit these past couple of weeks that it's not the fact that my son makes it impossible to sleep through the night or that there's just too much "kid food" in the house etc. The truth is that I'm a compulsive eater/overeater and I have a food addiction. I'm back in OA now and I'm struggling to find the serenity and peace needed to get back on the plan of stopping eating when I'm full.
Thanks for the awesome reminder.

Tellin it like it is!
I can appreciate that & I like the way you sais that its not the food thats good ro bad, but instead is my relationship with it.
I believe a large part of my personal battle is the realization that ya, I am "adicted" to food. I mean - i really like it - but I dont eat alot. So my portion control is OK. However, I dont move enought. Grant it, i am WAAAYYY MORE ACTIVE than I was pre-op, but still not enough to balance the little bit (or kind) of food i intake.
Congrats on your anniversary & thanks for the straight talk, the encouragement (for 1 day, i too would like to be able to actually "RUN"), & that reminder :)
