High Protein ideas

I am looking for some ideas on high protein, low carb things to eat.  I just have such a hard time taking in all my protein.  I am almost 5 years out, was down to an all-time low of 145 for a VERY SHORT time regained 10 lbs and stayed at 155 forever..now I'm floating at 162 and am freaking out because I am so afraid to go back to where I was!!

I know I shouldn't beat myself up...but I have developed bad habits ( I know what they are) and just can't seem to kick them.  I have really good intentions (when I'm full) but then when I get hungry, all my good intentions go out the window!!  GRRRRRR...I really want to go back to 155 MINIMUM and maybe even try to get back to the 145.

I keep telling myself that the taste of skinney is much better than the taste of food...now I just have to put that into practice!!

On a positive note, I have ordered some protein drinks that I used to drink (only ones I can find that I like)...so they should be coming in soon, that may help!!

I have the Lapband so my expereince may not be the same as yours, so I apologise if my suggestions aren't helpful for you. I tend to stay away from protein drinks since they slip right through the band and for me it's better to eat solid food.

1. Non-fat or low-fat Greek yogurt is very high in protein and very easy to eat. One small container (about 7oz) has any where from 14-17 grams of protein in it.

2. Cottage cheese is also very high in protein with 12 or so grams in 1/2 cup.

3. Two low-fat Polly-o string cheeses have 16 grams of protein and are a great snack for me in the late afternoon.

4. Egg salad, tuna salad, and chicken salad that are relly finely chopped also can have as much as 20 grams of protein per serving.

Hope this helps!

shrimp...cooked..I just had four ounces on a salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomato and zesty italian lite)  and it's good and high in protein and low in calories..

Or just dipped in ****tail sauce...still a really good choice.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

i am 5 years out and experienced a 33# regain (from 2007 to 2010).  i have recently (over 9 weeks) lost 15# of the regain.  i went back to the basics and started walking mah lil butt off and take in 100oz of water per day!   i always enjoyed the protein shakes, really like them, still do, probably because i always make them more like a smoothie or think shake rather than a drink.  although my doctor says i no longer need shakes at this point in my weight loss, its something i always go back to if needed.  i use Body Fortress' Super Advanced 100% Whey Protein Powder.  cheap and good (Walmart)

my fav proteins:

scrambled eggs w/cheese
hard boiled eggs
cottage cheese
refried beans w/salsa and sour cream
tuna
chicken strips (grilled)
beef strips (grilled)
deli turkey
nuts

acknowledging the issue was your biggest step.  good luck!

this is exactly what i need to do.
take in about 100oz of water/day & get back to working my tail off.... literally! lol
MY problem is - no motivation. once i leave the office, i make a B-line straight for home instead of stopping off at the gym.

Since I find that feeling FULL is the key to ME keeping the weight off, I try to emphasize dense proteins that make me feel full or quite a while (or make me feel full with only a half serving (and then I eat the other half a few hours later)).

My "go to" filling proteins are
- boiled eggs (a single boiled egg amkes me feel VERY full whereas a scarmbled egg does not, and I have no idea why!)
- tuna with a touch of mayo
- low fat cottage cheese (although having it too often makes me wnt to throw up as I remember my immediate post-op days when I was eating cottage cheese every single day for weeks and weeks)
- spiced-yogurt-marinated or grilled chicken or chicken strips cooked in enchilada sauce (both are VERY moist)
- mini Denver-omelet-style crustless quiches (eggs, cheese, onions, green peppers, and ham)

Cucumbers or tomatoes and cottage cheese

A few slices of deli turkey rolled around a stick of string cheese

Cooked ground beef or chicken wrapped in lettuce, dipped in some sort of diping sauce..or just like brags or soy sauce (yummy) or carb free bbq sauce from walden farms

Scrambled eggs and cheese wth a little low carb keetchup, or salsa

Those are some of my favorites
