Tired of being under a microscope

I'm almost three years out. and have gained about ten pounds, but have not been exercising regularly, which makes me probably look bigger.  Why is it that people who have had WLS are put under a microscope?  I have a coworker that has gained a ton of weight, but nobody's talking about her, it's all about the girl who had surgery is beefing it up.  Anybody else have this problem?

Offhand I would say you look bigger because "about ten pounds" is not reality.  It is nearly impossible to notice a change of 10 pounds on an average person, that isn't even one clothing size.  I give myself a range of +/-5 pounds which is a 10 pound total range.  My physical appearance is unchanged within that range.

I would suggest stepping on the scale and getting some real numbers so rather than talking ABOUT pounds you will know EXACTLY how many.  You could turn the "microscope" into a positive call to action.

Hmmm... ten pounds absolutely IS a whole clothing size for me!  It will vary based on your height and weight.  Ten pounds on someone 6 ft tall and 200 pounds probably does NOT show, but 10 pounds on someone only 5 ft tall and 120 pounds WILL show... it's a much higher percentage of the existing body weight!

Heck, where I am now, my pants get tight if I gain 3 pounds!

I think in my sizes, 5 lb. is a clothing size, IIRC.

People love to see wls patients fail.  Jealousy.

I have not heard it yet but I'm sure the she'll gain it all back comments are out there.  That's someone elses little red wagon.  They can pull it for themselves.

People do love to talk down on what they see as a failure..."See? Even with taking the easy way out, she's failed...." COME ON!  They're jealous..definitely and making excuses for themselves at the same time. Diets don't work and surgery doesn't work so they might as well give up and have the bacon double/triple cheese burger with the huge-ass fries and double chocolate shake with dessert in an hour. That's the mentality out there.

I had the allergist weigh me yesterday and shock-of-all-shocks...I showed to weigh 136 pounds with my shoes off and clothes on...ouch..That's probably about 10 pounds, so you'll see my list on accountability shrink, if I can...

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
