2 year VSG Sleeve surgiversary-- size 0-2
Although I was in the normal BMI range within about 5 months(150), I continued to lose weight, hitting my ideal goal by 7 months (135-140). But the weight kept coming off, maintaining at 133 until losing another 8 lbs around 18 months out. I am now 125 at 5'5" and barely fit it Misses clothes anymore. Even the size 2's or size 0's can be big on me because I have very narrow hips. So I am wearing teen clothes ("juniors") size 3 or size 5. I was in a misses small (sometimes medium) because I am large chested, but that last 8 lbs in October was mostly from my chest. I went down from DDD (started at an F before surgery) to D-DD and can occasionally fit in juniors tops. My waist went from 43" to 27"-- the most significant change.
Thanks to the Sleeve, I still have a very small appetite. This was a main concern of mine, and why I chose this procedure. I am extremely healthy, with sleep apnea, High BP and mildly high cholesterol resolving within 2-3 weeks post-op.
MY DILEMA:
I love my Sleeve and it has made losing weight and keeping it off so easy. Almost too easy! I am a bit worried because I don't have to be too strict with changing my habits, because the weight came off so easily. I eat protein first, then fruits and veggies, then complex carbs, but I don't measure or count anything (except protein). I don't exercise like I should, but having chronic pain makes it hard anyway (although the pain has improved with the wt loss). I can eat anything I want (just small amounts) and have had no complications or problems adjusting to my new stomach since it functions like the old one did.
Being that this was WAY TOO EASY, I haven't had to change too many things about my lifestyle. I still eat sweets more than I think I should, and don't exercise enough, and have slacked off on my water intake. I find that I am rationalizing my behavior b/c the Sleeve has done 95% of the work for me, even telling myself I could gain some weight b/c I am almost underweight now. That's the WRONG ATTITUDE and a slippery slope. Although it will never be at the same levels, my ghrelin will start to return soon, and now is the time I can't get complacent.
So I am celebrating the start of Year 3 with my new life and new body by recommitting to exercising more, drinking my water, and watching the sweets. My friend is getting her Sleeve on May 5th so I have to be a good role model. I'm hoping we can support each other, and go for more walks (now that this bad winter is over). I hope to be one of the VSG long-term success stories after 5+ years, but I have relied on the Sleeve to do the work for me, and it's time to get my nose to the grindstone!!!
Anyone else find their WL WAY TOO easy and worry about long term maintenance?

Our stories are somewhat similar. I took longer to get to my goal, but then kept losing for the following 18 months bottoming out at 128. Because I was losing so much without trying, I cut back on my workouts and added more complex carbs to my diet.
I maintained very easily until I was 4 years out and then seemingly overnight, the scale jumped up 10 lbs. and even with tracking every morsel that goes in my mouth, getting exercise, etc. I can't get it to budge. Everyone keeps telling me to not worry about it because I look much healthier with the weight, but it sucks that some of my favorite clothes no longer fit.
It sounds like you've got a good plan for this year and for being a guide to your friend. Good luck!
Blessings, Jennifer
