What works for you to remember to get all of your vitamins in? What is your system?

I got 2 of those 7day things and each day I put what I need into a altoids small tin and carry it with me. This worked for me for a couple of weeks....

So, what is your system??

i have a seven day pill box that has removable boxes for each day. I fill the box up each week and take the daily box with me so I take all my meds. I use Michelle (Vita Lady's) suggestions on vitamin schedule and I check my labs 2 times a year. I get extensive labs and I monitor the results and adjust my vitamins if I am low in a category.  Vitamins is not something I skimp on. remember, we have a mal absorption surgery. Remember to take Dry forms of vitamin D and E.

We "load" 90-100 days at the same time. Fresh labs in hand, we load for roughly 3 months. Load again for 3 months. Fresh labs, tweak as needed. They go into ziplocs first. Well, into lil cups which are dumped into ziplocs.

Don takes his first batch with breakfast, last with dinner. Iron with 2nd protein, gob of calcium with 3rd protein.

My rule is food with pills, pills with food. I take 5 batches. If I still I have pills, I need to eat something. If my pills are gone, I'm done eating for the day. My rules, and the OCD prevents me from breaking my own rules. If I have no pills to take, I get no food.

I do 6 protein shakes per day, Don does 4. We both drink water all the in between time.

We compete on water intake, and then on our labs. We practically rip them out of the printer at the labs and start comparing "scores". The lab thinks we are SO CUTE doing this, but really, after this much time, the game keeps us fresh, on target.

PS: for the record, his protein always beats mine (but our albumin and pre-albumin are nearly identical)
our iron and ferritin are usually equal
I always beat him at calcium and the fat soluble vites
LOL

Are your 6 protein shakes instead of food?  How do you take vitamins with food...are they all chewables?

The shakes are beverages, so 6 shakes, 6 meals.

I never could take pills with liquids, even as a kid., I chew up the food and when ready to swallow, stick the pill(s) into the wad of food and swallow. When I was little, I had to put the food in my hand and bury the pill. Today, tho, I can be at a formal function and take my pills with my fancy dinner and unless you watch my every move you'll never see me do it.

The saliva starts working the pill as soon as it hits. The care naked pill never touches my actual tissue. I can take pills of any size.

I've never chewed any pills. Ever.

I chew my pills when possible.  I thought it would help me absorb them.   Is there a reason why I should not chew them?

Oh wow, your stats are same as mine!

262, 5'1"

No reason for not chewing. Way more expensive to chew than to use pills.

The absorption depends on what is IN the pill. So, if your chewables contain the wrong forms of things (calcium carbonate, ferrous anything), then you don't get those out of it, whether you chew or swallow.

Your D needs to be D3
A needs to be retinol
E, K, blah, blah

So, depends on exactly what is in there. If it's one size fits all, well, it doesn't.

The shakes are beverages, so 6 shakes, 6 meals....What does this mean?  DO you use protien shakes as your fluids?  do you follow the no drink within a certain time?   It seems your calories count would be high?

Lemme try to sort this out.

I do a shake (4-6 oz, made with water) then small meal. Between I drink water.

According to all the Tanita scales, I need appx 1100 cal/day to maintain this wt. BUT, I am not a believer in the cal in/cal out theory. If it worked, one of my past diet/exercise program would've worked, huh?

I take in right about 1000 cal in protein drinks (which I don't count as anything but protein g) and about that much in food, give or take. So, I am holding my wt on about 2000 cal/day, AS LONG AS! none of them are sugar.

I do drink up to the meal. I don't drink during nor immediately after.

Did that iron it out?

I weigh about 100 now, usually around 110-115. The times I've been heavier (than 115) point directly to falling into the sugar vat.

Apparently, I could add another 1000 cal in protein drinks and/or flesh proteins and my wt would remain the same.

But even 200-300 cal of sugar (for more than a few days) and I puff right up.

I am 5'5" and seems to have settled at 160.  My goal was 150.  I lost 100 pounds 2 years ago.  I feel I need to switch things up to move the scales.

Your shakes:
what protein powder?
do you add fruit to them?
It appears that they are approx 180-200 cal each if you get 1000 cal per day for 5-6 of them.  Wondering what makes them so high in calories when they are only 4-6 oz?

Taking the protein shakes would make you less hungry at meals...is this why you do it or to ensure you get enough protein?  Are your meals protein rich as well?

Now...the dreaded sugar:
do you stay away from natural sugar as well such as fruits?
do you eat SF stuff?

DO you exercise as well to off set the caolries??

This whole thing is an puzzle...isn't it?  I am still trying to figure out what my lifestyle should be.  I may have a look at what you do....can't hurt.  I would like to get 10 pounds off.  However, I understand that our bodies have a set point....not sure if I am at mine and should respect it....or see what I can do better to loss 10 more pounds.

What are your meals like?  Would you mind providing some examples of your meals?  I do not eat the 'whites', bread or pasta of any type.  I am great with water, vitamins, and exercise.
ANy suggestions would be appreciated.  Feel free to email be at ...sheridan.bears[at]gmail.com
Thanks
