Went to DISNEY and ended up in the Hospital!!!!
So you know whats up! It was soooo painful! I still cant believe it happened on vacation. Thank God my mother was there with me. I still cant believe what happened. What did you do about it after it happened? Did it happen this year? Tell me more about what happened to you? Did it ever happen again? More info please, if you have any...
How about you...How have you been? You can always send me a message if you like....
Melissa
I had scans done at the ER. I heart the big scan machine. And they very quickly identified what had happned. They gave me meds and that was about it. I was still achey for a little while while it passed (or whatever it is they do) then had a grosser the usual period. (So TMI I know)
HAsn't happned since, but the doc said it was more likely to happen "at my age" Gee thanks, like I'm old or something now at 33? She didn't think the surgery had anything to do with it, but apparently if you've had one you can have 'em again.
I'm doing fine. I have a serious case of the winter blahs. Joined up at the local rec center and have been swimming, and got 5 pounds closer to the weight listed in my sig ( 145 Wish I could remember how to change that!) So the holiday weight gain is finally coming off. My husband will be coming home on mid tour next month so I may end up going all interwebs quiet for a month. ;)
Take care of yourself lady :)

highest weight: 335 (possibly more) pounds
current weight: holding steady at about 138-142
Lowest weight: 136
New goal: Find my balence
I am interested to see if its going to happen this month. I am praying it doesnt happen again.
I understand the winter blahs. Coming home made me understand how I enjoyed Florida. I lived there for one year and didnt like it at all, I'm a Northern girl. I need changes of seasons. The greatest thing about going in Jan/Feb. there wasnt any humidity. I really enjoyed it.
I came home and just craved the warm air. I started looking at air flights to warm areas even though I knew I couldnt afford it. I have a lot of pain issues and the cold air is sooo hard to deal with when you are aching.
I have been working really hard at keeping my weight were it needs to be. Its a lost of hard work. Its not easy. Coming up on my 2 year anniversary in May and I am so very grateful where I am at.
I am so happy to hear your husband will be home soon. I put you and he on our service person/family prayer list. If you are quiet for a while, we totally get it!
Thanks for your input! So glad to hear you have been working out. Its the only thing that keeps me sane! I was down to 143 and I am up to 146. Would love to see 139, that my goal. Lets work hard together!
Keep in touch let me know how you are doing!
I use to have ruptured ovarian cysts all the time when I was younger. The first time happen when I was about 17. It was the worst pain ever, my mom took me to the ER and they thought I had a ruptured appendix because of the amount of pain I was in. From that point on I had several more. Once they ruptured I would be sore for a couple of days but the pain definitely went away once it ruptured.
Once I started having kids the issues went away. I have to say I had some heavy duty female issues in my youth and after I had my kids but at least the cysts went away. I was also diagnoised with endometriosis when I was 17 and they put me on birth control pills which helped with the cysts.
About 12 years ago I had a hysterectomy, believe it or not my OB/GYN said my ovaries looked fine and wanted to leave them since I was still rather young. That was the best thing I did since I had severe painful periods.
Last year I was having some nagging pain on my right side, not really where my ovary is but I had been to the urologist for something else and I mentioned the dull ache. He suggested that they do an ultrasound to rule out a kidney stone. He wanted me to come in the next day (Thursday) but I suggested the day after. Thursday around noon the nagging pain got really bad and my boss sent me home. I was doubled over in pain. I got home and laid down but the pain just got worse. My husband was out of town and I knew there was no way for me to drive. I tried getting ahold of my son but he didn't answer his cell phone. He finally called me and I told him to come home and take me to the ER. He was a good hour away. By the time he got home I honestly thought I was going to die. He grabbed something to eat and I was getting dressed to go and all of a sudden the pain lessened up. I decided to just wait a little while longer. The pain continued to ease up so I decided to wait since I was scheduled for an ultrasound in the morning. I'm thinking I passed a kidney stone. Got to the urologists office had the ultrasound and she told me everything looked good. I was like no way!!! She was still scanning my right side and said, bingo there is evidence you had a ruptured ovarian cyst. It had been well over 25 years since my last ruptured cyst. I think I may have had it happen one other time since. I had the same pain in the early evening and in the middle of the night I decided I might need to to in and get checked. It got severe and then eased up. Usually a couple days after I am really sore on my right side around my ovary. It has only been on my right side, why I don't know.
By the way I have a good friend that use to work at the hospital in Celebration, she is back here in LA. That is a neat town. When I lived in Florida that was all woods between Kississimmie and Disney. It has really grown up over the years.

Jodi:
Thanks so much for sharing. Its interesting to hear what happened to you. WOW!!! I agree the pain was unbelievable. I kept talking to my surgeon because I was soooo afraid. I am thankful thats was what it was.
It could have been really bad....Being on vacation....Well at least I got to see the hospital in Celebration. It was beautiful! I am sure that she loved working at that hospital. Florida has changed a great deal. I lived there 11 years ago and so much is different.
I am so grateful to be back home. Florida was so beautiful...but there is nothing like your own home and your own bed....
I am working on trying to go and visit my friend in AZ so I can get a little pain relief from the cold.
Just think...spring is coming & I cant wait!
Jodi, I enjoy hearing what you have to say. Stop back and always share. I think what you have had to say is very interesting. When I go to see my OB/GYN I am going to share what you have said. I am glad to hear they didnt keep you from getting pregnant. I might want one more....
Thanks Again,
Melissa
Melissa,
I could not tell you the last the last time I came to this board...funny I come now and saw your post and had to respond. I wish I could give you rhyme or reason for my cysts but who knows. I do know when I was younger if I was not on birth control I had a time with them. Why after so long I encoutered them again I have no idea.
Where in Florida did you live? I was born at Patrick Air Force Base and grew up in the Cocoa Beach area. I lived there till I was 21. Hard to believe I left Florida 26 years ago. The area has changed so much.
My friends liked the area of Celebration but really missed LA. They just recently moved back to this area. Her husband worked for my husband for several years before they moved to Florida to be closer to her family. It just was not what they expected and my husband had an opening so he was able to get his job back. She is an RN so jobs are pretty easy for find for her profession.
I had three kids, granted two were due to fertility pills. After being on birth control for so long after I went off my periods were next to nothing. I was lucky to have 4 in a year, kind of hard to get pregnant that way. My third pregnancy I was on birth control. Again no rhyme or reason with me. Go figure!!!
I have known plenty of women that have only had one so there may be hope that this is your only experience.
Take care,
Jodi

Thank you so much for responding. You answered one of my main questions,"Will this happen again?". Its good to know that some people have only had one instance of this. My mother was wondering if all the excessive walking on pavement could have added to the fact that it happened. We had done about 7 days of walking at this point. We are not sure either. I really hope it doesnt happen again. Completely debilitating! Thank you for sharing.
I lived there in 1997-1998. That was all it took. I probably wont ever live there again (I have learned never say never!). I think it is a great place to visit but not a good place to live(for me). I lived in Orlando. I love the people there, but the weather is just not for me. Its also hard to find a sense of community, people are so transitory. The school I worked for lost and gained 500 new students in one year, it was crazy!
I also missed the change of seasons and the Humidity did nothing for my hair!!!! With my pain issues I dont think I would ever live there now. It would be like what I am in with the cold weather! That aching in my body would not be fun! Only about 4 months would be humidity free.
I have one tube left, lost one and a pregnancy about 9/10 years ago. Then, right after, got pregnant two times. I would like to have another one but need to make sure all my number are right before I attempt anything.
Thanks again for your input. This is a great board you should stop by more often. I am sure you have a lot to share!
