Pain

I am at my wits end!  I had surgery (rny) 4 years ago February.  I have been having constant nausea and in the last few months bad pain in my stomach.  One of the attacks was bad enough to end up in the ER where they gave me medication and it seemed to help so they sent me home but I've continued to have problems.  This week I had another one but stayed away from the hospital because I was talking with the surgeon on the phone and they called me in 2 more kinds of medication.  I have recently had an endoscopy and am seeing a GI specialist next week as well as my surgeon again.  The surgeon says that everything looked great in my endo and they just don't know where to turn.  I'm about exhausted from this non stop pain!

Anyway I'm trying to research 2 areas--ulcers and obstrcuted bowel.  Anyone have symptoms of either they could share with me?

Hi...
I'm over two years out and have similar issues the cropped up about 5 months ago and have worsened.

I have been to the ER and have been through every test imaginable....all normal! I am headed to surgery next Wednesday. It's starting out as lap exploratory and can be as much as open and bowel disection!

My feeling...after research, chatting with other RYN grads, and listening to my body, is that it's a hernia called Peterson's Defect. I suggest you look into that as well. From what I found out, I'm running status quo. All the tests come back normal.

I hear you about your exhaustion and wish you well. I, too, am exhausted and ready for this to all be over. NORMAL is definitely not what I am feeling!

Good luck and keep us posted please!

Susan

Have you researched internal hernia after gastric bypass?  Alot of times the pain waxes and wanes and all tests can show as normal.  It is more common in people who had lap rny.
An obstructed bowel would probably show up in a ct scan and an ulcer would probably show up on an endoscopy.  If a reason can't be found by testing usually the next stet is an exploratory lap to look at the old stomach and look for hernias. Good luck, and don't let it go,  pain means there is something wrong and it needs to be taken care of or you could have serious complications.
