Anyone had ovaries removed after WLS and gained weight?

Hello Everyone...

I had WLS almost 3 years ago and a hysterectomy 10 years ago, retaining my ovaries.  Within the last year however, I've been experiencing major pain in my female area and pain in lower back.  My GYN doc thinks it's endometriosis or scar tissue on my ovaries.  She has scheduled me for surgery to remove my ovaries in a couple of weeks.  But I'm really worried and scared because it has taken me all of this time to get my weight down (I'm still about 10 lbs from my goal) and now I'm faced with gaining the weight due to being thrown into early menopause.  I'm 44 and I know I've experienced some menopausal symtoms after the hysterectomy.  But removing the ovaries will put me smack dab in the middle.

I'm am so fearful of the weight gain.  Can anyone offer any insight or have had their ovaries removed after WLS?  I searched on the PCOS board and couldn't find anything.

Thanks bunches.

I had total hysterectomy with ovaries removed in October 09.  Major Hormone issues and instant crazy menopause.  It took two months to be kinda normal.  No weight gain though.  I have gained a lot of weight before that from eating /drinking wrong and not exercising.  So I would not worry about gain from the ovary removal.. I WOULD say that you will experience some mood swings etc to say the least.  Insomnia the whole nine yards.  I finally ended up going on bio-identical hormones in November and am finally feeling good.  Good luck

I had a full hysterectomy with ovary removal. The key is not to take any hormones. I didn't take any - was over all the mood swings within two weeks. No weight gain. The weight gain is from synthetic hormones. Don't take them - no weight gain.
