I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks and this is my first post here.

I'm 16.5 mos out and maintaining a 181 lb loss...whoo! This is hard! I'm absolutely obsessed and simply take it one day, one week, and one scale reading at a time!

Any advice from u grads to keep the momentum and not gain?

Be happy.

Hey Kit,

You've done awesome and have alot to be proud of, congrats on your successful completion of the weight loss phase and moving onto maintenance & remember if you decide down the road you want to start losing again it is very possible...

I see from you surg date that you have not hit 2 years out yet, my personal experience is the honeymoon phase is not really done until sometime between year 2 - 3...So my best advise is not to let time lull you into complacency...You've got to still follow the basic rules, most of the time, even for normal thin people it still about cals in / cals out and RNY'rs must forever apply a protein forward lifestyle...

Thanks for the kind words!! I've worked my a$$ off for what I've achieved and I'm very diligent..I can already tell a huge difference in my appetite and amounts and I do have to have that lil chat with myself sometimes...lately its been the grazing...its a lifelong battle but well worth it IMO. I do betwwen 1250-1500 cal per day with 75 or under carbs and avg 75-90 in pro. I'm at the gym 6 days per wk and am training for a half marathon in march!!!! - attribute my gym work to my current size 4 and am excited yet scared to death at the same time...
I read all the time about the 2 and 3 year mark and the bounceback

Be happy.

WELCOME~

Let me just say that bounce back isn't a foregone conclusion..It doesn't happen to everyone. Unless you count the two extra pounds I tend to carry around at 127 as bounce back from 125, which was my goal...

Yes, maintaining is a hard thing because, if you think about it, most of us were either going up or going down in weight our whole lives...staying right HERE is hard to wrap your mind around.

Working your ass off, is sort of required, I think. This isn't the easy way out, by any means.

the rules that people who are successful in this journey are this: 1) protein first always. 2) no drinking with meals always. 3) support group is HIGHLY recommended. 4) drink enough water

To get back on track once you've started slipping is this: 1) journal your intake 2) move more 3) change little things until you see a difference.

This is only my opinion. There isn't any need to get obsessive but it is a bit more comforting to me. I've journaled my food from 1 year out...every day. I've weighed myself every day from 1 year out..

You're doing marvelous! Yes. there is a honeymoon phase but you choose when you're done losing along with your surgeon..1 year, 18 months, 2 years...wherever that is. You just keep doing what you're doing and it will become apparent when it happens.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hi, KittenLove!  I'm following ya! LOL

I don't come here as often as I should...  but I have been a "drop on by" kind of member on this board for a few years now...

Welcome!  I'll try not to stay away so long.
