What kind of snacks do you keep with you at all times?

Well, you all helped me get through my breakfast crises, now I need help with what snacks you keep with you just in case you get into a situation and can't get a meal. I've been working the last 4 nights and it "ain't been good". Those darn vanilla wafers we keep on the nursing unit for patients keep calling my name, especially when we're not busy. I eat partially to stay awake plus drink plenty of coffee.

Tonight I brought in some cashews ( I know not the best nut of choice but it's what I had). I also brought turkey meatloaf and some cheese sticks. I need some new and different things for snacks.  I think then I'll have things covered!

Thanks for all your help!

Janie:

Here are some of my go to snacks. and believe me that I am all about the snacks and taking things with me!

Beef Jerkey

WW cheese sticks (Lower in sodium & Calories than regular cheese sticks)

Almonds

Walnuts

South Beach "High Protein Cereal Bar"by Kraft Cinnamon Raisin is my favorite!(10 grams of protein~140 calories)

Protein drinks like "Muscle Milk"~ My friend likes this one.

Rolled up deli meat (especially turkey, low sodium)

My brain isnt fuctioning right now, thats all I can think of.  If I come up with more I will chime in later)

Many times I buy the "baking" nuts at BJ's/Sam's club and I put them in baggies and freeze themand I can take out a smaller portion..  They seem to be lower in sodium and a better price~thought this might help.

Here's what I bring with me in my lunch bag:

hard boiled egg
cheese sticks and lunch meat (to wrap around them)
honey roasted peanuts
peanut butter (and a spoon...yummy)
beef jerky (I like Lowrey's, it's flaked and formed and not too hard to bite off and chew).
I found single servings of protein (whey) at Stater Brothers so I can add that to a cooled down coffee drink

the protein pancakes I've been making are usually eaten cold and dipped in sf syrup too.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I keep Edamame on hand. It's wonderful. High in protein; low in fat. I get the roasted kind.

I keep Lance Reduced Fat Peanut Butter Crackers in my car and eat them when I need a snack.
