Grads - we need your expertise

I'm in search of any graduate here on the board who has gotten close to or achieved their goal within a year or so after surgery. Then I'm particularly interested in those who have regained 10-20 pounds above that weight. the third criterion I'm particularly looking for is to find those who have been successful at getting that regained weight back under control using the good old WLS habits.

We have a simple little support group www.obesityhelp.com/group/Drop10410 of people who are working on tackling regained weight before it gets too serious. The only requirement to join is that you have to have gained at least 10 pounds of weight since your lowest postop weight and be interested in getting some or all of it back off.

If this profile above describes you, please stop in and write a summary of your experience on our discussion board. Feel free to start a new thread or add on to an existing one. If you know of someone in your contact list who has inspired you and who fits this description, please forward this message to them.

Thank you so much!

Heading on the way back down...and already liking this new 2010 year.

P.S. You will find a "Quick Chicken Soup" recipe there that tastes like a fine quality pot pie without the crust. I'd recommend this to anyone in a maintenance or weight loss mode. Each 1 1/4 cup (10 oz) is only 200 cals and has 21 grams of protein. What a nice warm treat on a cold wintery day..at least wintery here in Kansas that is.

I can only help with criteria #1.  I used to tell people that I lost weight for the following reasons:

1)  I didn't eat
2)  I excercised like a monkey

I've been weight stable at 195 +/5 pretty much since goal.  I did get a little under goal, but corrected that.

The key to stability (I think) requires the following:

1)  Setting a goal weight and stepping on the scale 2 or 3 times a week.  The goal weight needs a range for natural body fluctuations but there also needs to be a "line in the sand" like me at 200.
2)  Excercising, 3 to 5 times a week.  Personally, I run 5K two times and lift weights two times.

If you are over goal weight, then eat less (like 800 calories) and excercising more is needed.  Once at goal, you need to figure out your maintenance calorie level and eat an appropriate amount.

15 yrs. 3 regains, 3 too much lost, most of the time hovered right at my ideal wt.

There's a yahoo Grads group (10 yrs old now) and an offshoot low carb groups focused specifically on this issue. No judgment. Just a hand up.

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

It's me you are looking for! I had RNY 9/2007. Lowest weight was about 132. I am 5'71/2 so that was really a little too low. I would like to weigh no more than 140 and I today weigh around 150. I've gained most of that in the last 3 months. Stress, stopped daily weighing, no exercise, holiday carbs and 1/2 price candy. I've just started yesterday trying to get it under control. I hae been grazing and really craving and eating the carbs - something I did not use to do... did not want to. I have been drinking protein shakes and  eating light sensible meal at night. Have not lost the bad urges yet! Nor have I strted exercising. It is too, damn cold. I know, I know... people from Kansas do not want to hear that from ppeople in Florida. Would love some support losing. My pants are tight and I want to stop the gain now.
