Is it my iron? HELP! I'm SOOOO tired!

Hi, all!  I've been offline for a while, because my life has been insane, but I'm trying to get plugged in again.  I'll be 2 years out in March, and I've noticed over the last few months that I am progressively more tired EVERY DAY!  Literally, I can sleep 10 hours at night, wake up, have breakfast, and go right back to bed.  I'm not depressed, and I take my vitamins every day.  I follow vitalady's RNY schedule.  The iron I take is the 150 mg that is supposed to absorb best (can't remember the reason, but it's what she said to use if I'm not taking the tender iron).   I only take it a couple of times a week, because if I take it more often, I can't "go" like I should be able to...So, has anyone else experienced this?  Are there other things it could be that I haven't considered?  HELP!  I'm going to the doctor today to get labs done.  (It's been about 8 months.  Everything was fine last time, but they were my initial labs, so I couldn't really see any trends.)

If you've been in this boat, what caused it, and how did you fix it?  I don't have time to be tired!

I was having the same issue last month. I went to the dr and it was my iron. My iron level was 10. They increased my iron to 3 times a day and gave me a list of foods enriched with iron. She just re checked them Thursday so I hope it has come up some so I dont have to have an iron transfusion. Since the increase, I'm not as tired as I normally am.

150 every few days is not enough. Probably, you'll need to take more to catch up now.

Are you taking some magnesium oxide (with your calcium)? that will be a good anti-dote to constipation and is safe to take.

B12?

What is a good iron range for post RNY-ers?

For iron, as in serum iron, 35-170, but I prefer 80-100

for ferritin, 20-300, I prefer 200-300

Hgb, roughly 12+, I'm happy to be anywhere 12+, but 13-14 is the thing of dreams

Hct, roughly, 36+, same, same - will usually be hgb x 3, so for me, If I can do 12/36, I'm good, but for others, I'd like to see better. (I have a coupla other things going on that are not nutritional. )

This is my OWN opinions of these numbers, but I quoted roughly the ranges on my lab here, LabCorp.

I received my iron order, and I'm starting tonight on Michelle's suggestions (thanks, again!)...

I have a call in to the doc to get labs and a few other things checked.  Along with the excessive tiredness, I've been having migraines (unusual for me), and a very heavy feeling in my bladder (but no infection) all the time.  I think the three are unrelated and just need treatment (i.e. iron supplements for my fatigue, a little less stress for the migraines, and probably a bladder sling or something to fix a prolapsed bladder, but we'll see!)  I can't think of anything that would cause all three, so off to the doctor I go...

I didn't know iron supps could cause hunger!  Is that unusual?
