Question about goals
Hello everyone,
I will be 2 yrs post op(open DS) in January. I feel great, everyone tells me I look great, but I bounce between 190-200 lbs. My goal is 179 (will make me "normal" per BMI calculator). Should I really stress out about this? Or should I be happy with this new me and forget these last 16 lbs?
Thanks everyone,
Doug

I don't like any charts, BMI. height/weight whatever. I'm VERY SHORT so all the charts say I should weigh between 85-115. When I got to 114 both my WSL and PCP YELLED at me for getting TO THIN. Most charts do not take in AGE, frame size or even muscle mass. My daughter and I are a perfect case. we both are are under 5 foot and 125 but she wears a 3-7 I wear an 8-12 she is all muscle because she is a cheerleader me I still have excess skin.
SO I say do you feel good??? Are the docs happy where you are?? Are YOU HAPPY where you are?? I'm not a normal BMI and I NEVER WILL BE!!!!!!!
Do what is RIGHT FOR YOU NOT THE CHARTS......If that means stay 16 lbs over weight so be it. If not shake up you plan and lose those 16 lbs.
Good Luck,
Robin

Those charts don't take into account muscle tone either. I have an example. There's a girl on another board that is about as far out as I am but she's a muscle builder...she's exactly the same size and shape as me; wears the same size jeans. I weigh 126 and she weighs 150...It's totally muscle on her...
So you might need to rethink that goal.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240

I wanted to get to BMI "normal" but I saw pictures of myself and thought I was too thin already and stopped at 195 meaning I'm still "overweight"
BMI doesn't tell the whole story and my last Body Fat % at the Dr was 13%.
You should take a serious look at some current photos and decide if you like that look. Keep going until you're happy.
