What do you think. Does a protein shake wake up the matabolism in the morning? Or do you HAVE to eat something?
I'm not a morning eater but do love my shake in the morning. Kinda like a good cup of coffee for some. I have found that if I do eat 1st thing in the morning then I am grazing or obsessing ALL day long. Where if I have my shake I am more in control. I can eat a normal meal & a healthy snack.
But am I defeating myself by not getting my matabolism woke up *& get those little men working for the day. Thats what I call my motabolism. My little working men. lol
I'd like your opion on this matter.

I say if a shake works and doesn't have you grazing...it's a good thing!

I needed something warm to warm up the pouch so it has to be either oatmeal (with my tvp) or my protein pancakes. I tried protein cereal and it just won't do...pouchy is grouchy in the morning and she-who-must-be-obeyed requires warmth.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I agree with Dawn.  If it works for you do it.

I have found that I have to change it up every few weeks.

Every morning I take OPC-3, after that (on an empty stomach) I have tea w/spenda.

Then, after I wait a little bit, I have greek yogurt w/kashi, or oatmeal or south beach protein bar, I also do protein shakes.  I change it up.  Thats what works for me.

Like Dawn says, if it helps you NOT graze, do it.  The key is the protein.  Thats what I was told by my doctor.

Looking forward to hearing what others have to say....

I have really bad pain issues.  One of the reasons I had the surgery was because of my pain.

I was in an accident about 5 years ago.

I started taking opc-3 about 2 months ago ( I got it from a friend of mine,  but I know they sell it other places) because it helps with circulation, pain levels, etc.  Its called a "nutraceutical".  If you google it you can get more info.  There is some great info on utube on a women that had lupis.

I also have very bad fibro.  I have been in pain for over 5 years.  Since I have lost the weight my pain level has actually gone up.  Ridiculous, isnt it?  I have had to increase some of my pain meds, which I hate!  My hope is when my body adjusts to what is going to be, I wont be in so much pain.  My dr. said the fat was surrounding my muscles like a cushion, then that cushion went away and the support dropped.

So thats why I take the OPC-3.  It seems to help with my pain level, and I have started to cut down on some of my pain meds.  My hope is soon I will be pain free.  That is my hope and prayer!  Its no fun being in pain!

I have a lot of trouble eating/remembering to eat in the morning.  However if I don't start off the day with SOMETHING in my tummy then I have weight problems later on- etc. So ANYTHING is better then nothing. Personally I do a shake, or a coffee with some protien, or something sim. to hold me over until my 10/11 am "brunch" when I'm in the mood to actually consume something.

I drink a chaitea latte every morning - my first 'snack' is at 10a which is hot cereal (so I guess its technically bfast). If it works for you stick with it... been working for me :-) I am getting a little bit of protein (soy milk) and some calories... my tummy just isnt up as early as I am!
