I would not drink with meals, instead I would just try to bump up the calories in a good way. Eat another snack during the day, Have some nuts, a few slices of ham or turkey, have some carbs PB and crackers, Have you talked to your doc or nut?? Each will have their own way to add calories in a good way. At almost 6 years out I can't drink and eat at the same time it's just to uncomfortable.
Good Luck,

Remember that you get about 15 lbs back when it's all done, so where do you want to be when the bounceback comes?
I always say NEVER try to stop the wt loss. It'll stop on its own and when it turns, it scares you to death!
If I had stopped my loss, my permanent wt woulda hung around 130. I left it alone to wander about and it parked at 112, which is fine for my 5'1".

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
When I was trying to keep my weight up, my favorite item was a daily Starbucks Frappucino (with whip). I don't dump plus the high fat content helped slow the sugar absorption. Once I stabilized, I just stopped drinking them.
I would try adding a fourth meal or something else you could give up if needed. Also, stop eating light foods! Switch to whole milk, full fat everything, etc. This may seem obvious but it was hard for me to get into that mode of thinking.
I know of other WLS people that have been told this by their surgeon. If it's an occassional thing you "should" be ok; my biggest concern when I see people doing this is that it becomes a habit that is hard to break later.
I'd suggest you try adding another higher-calorie snack first. The banana and peanut butter someone else mentioned would be a good option.

I try and stay away from drinking and eating (except as mentioned above with some wines)... I dont want to take chances and IMO you can eat more when you drink.. or you get fuller quicker but then are hungrier sooner (depends on the food).
