Today is my 3 year surgery aniversary.  I can honestly say that I am so happy that I made the choice to have gastric bypass surgery.  Today I feel wonderful.  Today I weigh about 115 lbs.  Today I can walk, run, squat, strech, bend and reach.  Today I can eat almost everything I want to in moderation and small portions.  Today I can use vitamin supplements in a way that makes me have the strongest nails and shiniest hair I have ever had in my life.  Today I can wrap my arms around my husband and child and say thank you for supporting me through all of the trials and tribulations that went along with the surgery, and they can wrap their arms around me!  Today I am conscious of what I eat and drink, but not worried about it.  Today I will make time to walk a mile because I enjoy doing it, not because I have to do it. Today my mind has caught up with my body and finally realized that I am a small woman now.   So, Today I will accept myself and be happy with myself.  Thank you Dr Stephen Boyce and his wonderful staff.  I also owe a great big thank you to all of the wonderful people on this website who have helped and guided  me along my way.  For those of you just out of surgery,  I promise it will get much better sooner than later.  For those of you considering surgery, especially type 2 diabetics, if you have anything like my experience, you will be making a big improvement in your life.  I wish all of you the best, and I send my compassion and heartfelt prayers that you all can create happiness in your life as well.  D

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I agree with everything you said. Thank you for your delightful post. Yesterday was my 2nd year surgerversary. Every morning I wake up and look into the mirror thinking that this was all a dream and I'll be fat again. It's reading posts like yours that make me believe in this miracle surgery that we've been given that makes us able to live "normal" lives again.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!!  My 3rd year anniversary was on Oct 10th! We were "born" the same month...  yes it has been quite a ride, hasn't it?  Life has changed so much for me...  which is exactly what I had in mind when I started this journey.  I knew that when I got up from that operating table, my life would forever be changed... for the better... and it has!

I'm glad to hear that you are happy, and healthy, and living life...  Congratulations!
